Key Plays

I suppose I am in the older group who was utterly humiliated about BYU during the dark Crowton years and am ecstatic that we have a coach who does his best to run a clean program that represents the Church I believe is true. But I digress...



What I am curious about is what other 'key plays' would you include that had a direct impact on momentum or score?



* A sure thing pick by Sorenson

* A sure thing pick by our linebacker (can't remember name or position for sure)

* A 102 yard Kick off return for a TD called back by a penalty.

* A missed FG by our previously 100% kicker.

* 5 Possessions in the blue zone and 13 points to show for it.



These are all things BYU controlled and screwed up. No blaming refs. No blaming utes.



There are a few others things that certainly were possible key plays:

* Punt touched by ute? (I couldn't tell on the replay. That the ball bounced backward from it's traveling direction sure made it seem like it had hit a hand/finger or at least a foot but I never saw anything that made me believe it did)

* PI at the end which would have advanced the ball and given us one more chance.



Anything else?

The team pissing their pants pre-game and apparently assuming all week they could run on Utah. Not practicing the passing game.

Oh, and after Jamaal got the first down for us when he went out, our team didn't make anything of it! Shameful.

Our team playing with fire and recognizing this was the last time to beat Utah until 2016. Even B. Ogletree said people on the sidelines (former players) had more energy and enthusiasm than the team. Seems to me the theory about not getting too hyped up so as to le emotions overwhelm execution worked in reverse. Such uninspired play for such a critical game.
