Has the PAC 12 came out with their sorry announcement

For their officiating in the Wisconsin-ASU game last week?



I'm curious what they say, since they be sending theirs to Provo(I believe) this week.

The Pac12 reprimanded the officials, but no further action will take place, the game still counts as a loss for Wisc.



Honestly, the Big10 should announce that they do not recognize the results and void the game entirely. They should consider Wisconsin 2-0 and only playing an 11 game season this year.

I agree. The finish to that game was atrocious. The Wisconsin QB downed the ball (NCAA rules state that it doesn't matter whether his knee actually touches the ground or not - it's all the same and the play is dead) AND REGARDLESS the ref blew the whistle.



At the very least, the ref should have stopped the clock and picked the ASU defender up off the ball and given ASU a warning. More likely, ASU should have received a 5-yard delay of game penalty. In either case, 80-90% chance that Wisconsin makes the 25-30 yard field goal and wins the game.

What does that mean for ASU??? Do they get the win in their books? One game closer to their Bowl game?



I believe the NCAA needs to step in, but they are the ugly redheaded step child now. Conference's have more say than they do at this point.



This could create serious issues for the NCAAA.

I believe Wisconsin and the Big10 could do this. It would either force the NCAA to act, or it would likely bring their oversite of college football to an end even sooner.



As for ASU, the Pac12 would continue to recognize their win so you would have two different accounts of the results of that game. It would cause some havoc, that's for sure.

Seems like it would be somewhat like when a team gets sanctioned and gives up their games, the result still is recognized by the other team. (We still have a loss to Regie Bush)



If they do void the game, I want our 25 seconds+ back from the Utah game last year with the Big10 refs.



The refs screwed up big time on that play but Wisconsin didn't do themselves any favors. They got just as caught up in the panic as everyone else and they knew what was going to happen and the rule. Had they been lined up ready to snap the ball they'd have a lot more to complain about. I think Gary just brought the USU end of game curse from Logan to Wisconsin.

We still have a loss to Reggie Bush because the game did not fall within the period wherein he was declared ineligible.

Good catch. Still, all those teams that lost to Penn State, FSU, USC, etc. still recognize the loss, correct?

ASU would have blocked the kick or Wisconsin would have bobbled the snap or the kicker would have shanked it or I guess they might have made it or tried a fake.



Anyway 85% sounds high. How good is their kicker. Even if they made it, GA is a sucker for on-sides kicks taken to the house.

If the PAC was willing to announce how sorry it is, they would have announced what a sorry conference they were when they added CU and U. Wait - in a way that did announce how sorry they are.

Bottom line - and this should be a no brainer for everybody - every game should have a completely neutral officiating crew. It's really the NCAA's fault for allowing the PAC 10.2 to have their own refs in any game.

So why do we have PAC ref for the Utah BYU game? I thought the PAC refs did games for the PAC home games and not away Ames out of conference. Tat would be consistent as to why ASU had PAC refs at home.

IDK for sure, but this may be another indication of what concessions we have to make to get BCS Conference teams to play us - anyone, any place, your officials.

Isn't that what the Pac12's Washington did a few years back when we went up there to play them? The had banners up declaring themselves as the 1984 National Champions. But I guess what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander.
