What did Robert Anae do last night?

Personally, I think he watched the game. I know that if I was any part of the Y football coaching staff, I would have watched the game. I probably would not have TiVo'd it because they have staff and a fantastic recording section that records those games and prepares the game films. Still - out of professional curiosity - I would have watched.

Anae is not going to devise a game plan that will slice through Utah's D... Taysom ain't Sean Mannion and with Hill being one dimensional, Whit and his staff will have the advantage. This will look like the Virginia game all over again because BYU will not be able to run on Utah and Hill is not a passer, at least not yet. If Hill were a traditional BYU QB with an arm, I'd take BYU in this game because Utah's corners are probably worse than the Cougs' and this game is going to come down to which team can move the ball more effectively through the air. I give Wilson the advantage over Hill and like the Utes 24-20.

If you're Anae you saw things that you can take advantage of. But you also things that BYU likes/wants to do that Utah can stop.



It's going to be a very interesting game. But teams can exploit and be exploited by what the other team can do.

BYU can run all they want (BYU has better RBs than Oregon State), even if they have to punt from time to time, they'll still get theirs. This is a team that just let Oregon State score 51... the same Oregon State that lost to Eastern Washington.



Utah's D is awful, BYU's D is great... Wilson might not finish the game ala Ash, Bradford, etc. etc. etc. The only thing Utah is better than is getting a tad luckier than Utah State in a game Utah State won...



I like Wilson as a QB, but BYUs D is the best in the country and if Wilson decides to run, you might finish your season with another QB because OSU does not have an answer for Van Noy, Fua, Kaufusi and all these guys are out for blood. BYU does not get fooled by screen passes either. The only chance Utah has is vertical passing and that's easier said than done with our pass rush. '



How can any Ute fan pound their chest right now considering they lost at home against a team that lost to Eastern Washington?

I doubt Whit will risk Wilson by running him a lot. I wonder how the :utard: o-line will compare to Texas? If they can protect Wilson, he can be dangerous. Plus, i suspect that the quick outs and passes to the flat will be used a LOT (it is one of the glaring weaknesses that were highlighted against Texas). If :utard: gets hot with those, it could make the night very interesting. Of course, if Hill starts hitting receivers it could be a GREAT cougar night!

Whichever team holds back their QB to avoid injury will lose. Both QBs will be running the football until their opponent stops them - then we find out who can throw under pressure. BYU can bring the most pressure.

When was the last time Bronco pressured a Utah QB??? I don't recall BYU even blitzing once last season in the Utes' 24-21 win or even two years ago in the 54-10 drubbing the Utes put on the Cougs in Provo. And for Craig... you can't tell me anyone saw coming what BYU did to Texas... it was a fluke... an anamoly that will not happen again this season. 'Ole Miss just proved yesterday how bad Texas' D is by dropping 44 points on the Longies themselves... in Texas... with an offense that has struggled mightily for several years now. We are going to see the same BYU offense we saw against Virginia... watch what happens. The difference will be in throwing the football and possibly even big plays, where the Utes will have the advantage in both areas.

It does not matter when BYU last pressured the Utes. What matters is when the next time will be. That will happen Saturday. They have film. They saw the 3 picks. They are better matched to keep Wilson from running all over them. OSU was impotent when Wilson took off - until they put the spy on him in OT.

A fluke that happened again the next week? Or a fluke that BYU took out Texas's top 2 players and Ole Miss didnt' have to deal with Ash or Johnson?



Utah just lost (at home) to a team that lost to Eastern Washington...... Utah has no advantage in this game..... in fact Utah hasn't even played a good opponent... I would be very afraid of going to Provo against BYUs D with your soft oline and miniature RBs that can't pass block. BYU hasn't been fooled by a screen in the last 2 years and Wilson can't outrun Van Noy or Fua. We're fresh, we're at home, and our seniors are ready to eat their offspring for this win... Wilson will spend a lot more time on his back than you think... BYU 34 Utah 17



I'd be very scared of this game... Utah loses and you'll be sitting home (again) for bowl season.

To predict a repeat of the VA game in entertaining. First off, you would have to possess super-natural powers to duplicate the weather conditions that existed for that game. Not going to happen. The weather for this Sat. Is predicted to be 80 deg. and 10% chance of rain. Conditions will be perfect for a 1 dimensional, slow scrambling QB. Conditions will also be perfect for BYU's superior running game. I would not be so smug in your predictions mr. wolf. This current BYU team is a different animal than the last 3 years.

I also noticed they had a spy on Wilson often in the first half (OSU#4). That worked very effectively. That changed how Utah ran its offense and OSU did not adjust back to the spy. I think Wilson's effective runs following his interceptions surprised OSU. OSU did not make that mistake in OT.



Will BYU put a spy on Wilson or will it play defense straight up?

Utah is vulnerable in the secondary, I really really hope Taysom can take his fast ball down a notch.

I don't know about maybe. USU to me is the best as of now imo.
