Frank Jackson, Who?

I had not heard a thing about this kid. What's the story? Hadn't seem the TV special on him either. Please inform.

As a 5-10/155 lb freshmen, he scored 30 points against Lone Peak (with Mika, Haws, Emery). He then transferred to LP as a sophmore. The kid is a dynamic scorer and is still a well kept secret outside of Utah. Rose must see a lot of potential in him to offer him a scholarship as a Soph.

Plays for Lone Peak. Seems to be enough to garner a scholarship these days.

Sounds like another undersized shooting guard.

Hope he ends up at BYU. Sounds like he is going to be a player. scored 30 against LP AS A FRESHMAN.

He is also 6-1 and says he is being mentored by Haws and looks forward to playing with him at LP and then at BYU. Good get by Coach Rose.

As a sophomore He could put on a couple of inches before he shows up at BYU. Lone Peak will be interesting to watch this year without a couple of their stars. It looks like they'll be guard heavy but scorers are scorers.

Rose has passed on a lot of young guys that looked like they could play ball but never got a lot better as high school upperclassmen or collegiate.... Guys like both Corbin and Brandon Miller, Jared Stutzman, Tyrell Corbin, Trey Dickerson, Brant Mecham, Dantley Walker (unlv kid) ... none of these guys were offered because the coaching staff saw weaknesses they didn't like... they were all guys from one time or another, I wondered if they were good enough to play at BYU.. but Stutzman didn't have a left hand, Walker can't play D, Tyrell Corbin doesn't have a work ethic, etc. etc. etc. (none of them have or will make a splash in big time D1 hoops yet Frank Jackson gets offered after his freshman year.................. says a ton.



Guards don't need size if they can play D, handle the rock, and shoot it, but what I want them to have is a scholarship offer from BYU, because if Coach Rose gives them the stamp of approval (especially when they're this young) that means they're special.



In spite of their perceived lack of size (and/or melanin pigment), I would take every single "Nick Emery" and "TJ Haws" out there. (both were or are much much more heralded than Jimmer out of high school) in fact they are the top rated preps we've signed in over a decade (btw - eric mika might be the best "recruit" we've signed in 20 years, but not a guard so he's not really part of this discussion). (Tyler Haws was a 3 star and the last 4 star we've nabbed was Lee Cummard... also not a guard btw). Not a chance they're better than Jimmer in college (he's a once in a generation player) but they are going to be damn good and they'll never have problems fitting in or staying at BYU. If Frank Jackson is that type of guy, I want him and apparently so does Coach Rose.



btw -Lone Peak might just have another decent team... go figure. ;)

Makes one wonder, beyond dropping 30 on Nick and TJ if they didnt say to Rose, "check this guy out if you haven't (BYU probably had him on a one of their radars) and get him bc he just dropped 30 on us and we play elite teams and this kid is legit. Get Jackson!!

And now, instead of playing at Lehi (bet that coach is bummed big time) he will be playing on the road show that is Lone Peak. 3 years and summers of playing elite HS teams around the country.

Heaven forbid if Rose ever lost to cancer, BYU has to be considering Quincy Lewis. But maybe without any collegiate experience, he would be too high risk as to whether he could make the jump.
