Love that the two coaches backed up their words that the OL issues would be fixed. The guys not only kept up the GF part, but blocked with heart and sustained their blocks. This was a good TX DL/LB group, and they dominated in the trenches. It seemed like they not only got the starters right but found time for Kafu, Kearsley, Brown, et. al.

They will punish the Yewts if they sustain this level of effort in that game. I also expect Anae to devise a unique game plan for the school up north that will focus on where they are weak. On the other hand, TH needs to improve his passing efficiency, and the center snaps and backfield mistakes will have to be corrected or they may lead to easy TDs in the future.

I think that will be the focus for the next two weeks. Which will take forever to get here.

Interesting summary by Gurney:

"Slowly but surely, the BYU offensive front exerted its will over the Longhorn front to the tune of 349 rushing yards at the half and 485 yards at the end of the third quarter. The largely disorganized and ineffective offensive line from a week ago took the form of everything new offensive line coach Garett Tujague promised it would — and then some.

The push the O-line was getting up front proved so effective that coaches were able to abandon any semblance of a passing attack and go straight at Texas early in the second quarter.

Every change coaches made to the offensive front panned out.

Starting OL: Yeck, Vaitai, Alletto, Matthews, Stringham. Players also heavily involved: Kearsley, Fusi and Brown. Other notables - Kafu, Wesley. 2J used a lot of OL and their unified performance, without major drop-off with substitutions, wore down the TX DL. That OL depth will take this team far. Although they ran close to 100 plays, they still had greater time of possession than TX. It wasn't OR with super big plays but grind it out punish the defense. Paraphrasing JW's prophesy, "we imposed our will upon them and they bowed down to our physicality."

Not sure - but he was playing a lot of center. Also looked like he got his knee tweaked in 3rd Q

The OL was dominant at run blocking! It was unbelievable to watch and know that it was the same group from a week ago, just reorganized and re-focused.

Now with that said, there was a reason we ran, ran, ran. The pass blocking was still bad and Taysom was still under heavy pressure very quickly on nearly every pass play.

It looked like the OL was rotating much more than they did vs Virginia. I don't know if that helped them stay fresher, but their effort was night/day different.

Wasn't Vatai one of the players who has been known to be extra physical? I don't think he played much last week if at all.
