Taysom Hill and YAC

Based upon the body of evidence for Taysom, I really wish there was some statistical evaluation of Yards After Catch and QB Accuracy. It felt like Taysom threw some catchable balls, but that the adjustment to make the catch really reduced the opportunity for YAC.



I am hoping that Hill is not an iteration of Riley Nelson, only faster with a stronger arm. However, I am concerned that is exactly what he is...if the accuracy is not reliable, it is going to be a rough year.

Taysom is not a true QB (at least not in the sense that BYU fans are accustomed to). He is not a passer... that's become rather obvious and for BYU to thrive on offense, they've got to have a true drop back passer with a solid O line and receiver core with a running back that can keep D's honest. BYU is 1 for 4 here (receivers are solid with Hoffman and Apo) and the reason I didn't give Williams the nod is because he's mediocre against good teams (sure, he's rock solid against teams like UNLV, Wyoming, New Mexico, etc., but vs. teams like Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, GT, Notre Dame, etc., forget it). And to make it worse, Anae is trying to run an offensive scheme that BYU is simply not built for and those combinations spelled disaster last Saturday. Suffice it to say, Texas ain't Virginia and if BYU is struggling vs. a Cavalier squad that was average on defense and mediocre on offense, what's going to happen vs. Texas?

Been a long time since we've had a QB that could hit a WR in stride. Seems our WRs of late have had to stop, slow down or re adjust their footing in order to grab a ball.
