Cody Hoffman @Cody_Hoffman2

all you fair weather fans can be gone now.. where's all our real fans at?? #loyalty

11-1

Going to be a good year after a shaky start.

I agree (and I've been part of it) with Cody Hoffman that there is way too much wailing and gnashing of teeth going on around here.

Players are trained to move on and forget losses, fan are a little more prone to say things they will regret and steam awhile.

Fans will all be with the cougs next saturday

Sorry Hoff, you should have bucked up and played in that game. It's not game 5 of the season. it's freaking game 1! Who gets hurt before game 1? WTF. And it's not fairweather for fans to be disappointed with an incredibly sucky JV offense for the 4th year in a row!

We've all seen this offensive display before...

We're going on 4 years of no offense. What do you expect?

For the last three seasons we've watched our offense do much the same it did tonight: run the same stupid play over and over again. When my mom who has watched probably all of 12 football games in her life can predict when BYU runs it, something is wrong.

BYU could have come out of the gate and showed fans that they were going to get something different than they got the last 3 years. Instead, we got a reminder.

Don't want the ire of "fair weather" fans, then give us something new.

Hoffman just went down a peg in my book. He's criticising the very same people that pay $100+ a ticket to watch him.

Well, we wouldn't have made a bowl game without him last season so what makes him think the team has a chance without him this year? If the team is serious about making BCS noise the best players have to play. That's all I'm saying. If even just a couple plays in the redzone I honestly expected him to show up at some point because it was so obvious that we needed him out there.

Hoffman at less than 50% or even 70 percent is still a liability and not as good as the receivers that saw the field. The scheme and the QB were not able to find the receivers today. Makes me sick that Hill floated that last pass that had a wide open falslev for probably enough yards to attempt a FG.

At the moment, I'm not very optimistic. I'll still watch and cheer for BYU, but if our offense doesn't figure things out vs. Texas, then we're still in deep trouble.

I couldn't disagree more. Hoffman at 50% doesn't drop passes. At the very least he's a powerful decoy out there and can probably catch a slant or two.

11-1? Really? HA HA HA HA!!! Good one Hoff. It's great you can shake it off and look at the next game and its nice to add a little levity to help break up the terrible mood we're in.

Can't wait to see the 10-2 tweet and the 9-3 and the 8-4. I guess when it's 4-8 or 3-9 it might get a little old but until then...

Right Cody... and then after next week, you'll tweet out 10-2 and then 9-3 and so on and so forth. This loss already makes BYU irrelevant for the rest of the season in terms of anything meaningful or national prominence and at this point, with this anemic offense and even more anemic O Coordinator, find me 6 wins on the schedule.

Seriously Hoffman... 11-1... either you're delusional, blind or completely out of touch with reality. :bug: I get trying to stay optimistic and all that, but to come out and post that you're going to go undefeated the rest of the season against the likes of Texas, Utah, Notre Dame, Boise State, Wisconsin, etc. when you just lost to a pathetic Virginia team? Really???

That was me predicting 11-1, so take a chill pill.

VA is not the same team as last year at 4-8. They have an outstanding set of DBs and Safeties. They also have a terrific DL. Serviceable RBs and very fast WRs. They are not going 4-8 this year.

I see BYU improving if they can clean up the miscues and errors that come with running at such a fast tempo. We eliminate some of the errors and we win this game. It hurts because it looks like a replay of the BSU, Utah, SJSU, ND games that we should have won.

UVA looked like an average college football team (if that). They were picked to finish near the bottom of the ACC... they were mediocre on offense and average on defense and they beat the Cougs... nough said. If they don't go 4-8, they'll go 5-7.

In large part due to pretty good defense of BYU.

They are nearly the same team. Almost everyone from last year is returning. Which is the reason why the experts were predicting them to be last in the ACC.

When you return a starting backfield, OL and DL from a previous year, there is a common thought that experience in game situations will translate to mature decisions on the field. Therefore, expect them to be more improved than last year. Same with BYU, defense played as expected with the number of returning players, on the O it was a different matter in that the OL still appears to be a weak link that hopefully will improve with consistency and experience.

Agreed. Returning everyone is usually a good thing. If they had a QB to go with their Broncoesque defense they would be rolling this year.

There's a difference between playing hard and playing smart. Absolutely no reason to throw Cody in there and possibly lose him for the rest of the season. We had a chance to win that game. Had Williams caught that pass, it wouldn't have been intercepted and the outcome could've been different. But let's not dwell in the shoulda, woulda, coulda scenarios...game two is around the corner and Anae better put together an outstanding game plan or we're 0-2...possibly 0-3 after the "fruits" come to town.

Yes, we're all frustrated, but it's not Cody's fault.

Last but not least, perhaps you guys shouldn't set your expectations too high... I mean c'mon, we're not Alabama for crying out loud!! Lol
