What was up with the receivers

They were supposed to be the strong unit of the team. Way too many drops on key third down plays. really disappointed in the receivers.

I hope our team just had season-opener jitters and mental problems with Hoffman not playing. If THill can throw better and everyone's trying harder, I truly think that we could go 11-1. We may need a few lucky bounces to do it though...



Although, BSU is struggling @ Washington; Wisconsin barely beat Wyoming, 37-34; and Utah struggled against Utah State. Nevada vs UCLA looks to be a close game. Just about all of our other future opponents had blowout victories over bad reams. Idaho State didn't play.



With a healthy Hoffman and a smarter QB (either Hill or Olsen; anyone who can throw the ball on the money), I believe we're set up for a good year.



But if we keep messing up...is our bowl game out the window?

Again Wisconsin put up 45 to 0 on umass and gtech put up 70 to 0 on their opponent. Sure they were patsie opponents but so was Virginia. Predicted to be last place in the ACC.

Early preseason hype does not make a team nor its playing ability. Number 19 BSU got waxed by unranked UW and NDSU beat former B12 champion KSU. Give it a couple weeks before we start calling VA a patsy or BYU a disaster waiting to happen. First game jitters and new O will require some time to sort out. Patience is required. Now if same silly mistakes continue for a while, then course correction is necessary. Receivers and Hill need to work on velocity of throw, placement, and timing issues. It also should be noted that UVA's strength was their DBs (four returning starters). That may have had something to do with drops as well.

The problem with the WR's was that we didn't throw to them enough. When TH did his accuracy was horrible.

TH had a poor completion %, it was a lot better than it should have been. Look back on many slant routes and he threw behind them almost every time.

I saw 2 bad drops. 1 was to Jamal Williams(RB) and the other was to Thompson(TE)

taysom had a horrible game. I think the coaches would have been justified to give ammon a try. i don't blame them for not doing that though. it just opens a can of worms.

The WR were catching the ball off their chest instead of their hands. Then they would get hit. Same issue pre-Cahoon days. Holiday gets to earn his paycheck this week to fix the problem.

8 drops in the game. At least 3 would've been first downs.

Was Hill throwing the ball too hard? Or was it "just" the rainy weather?



Seriously, a safety, a blocked punt (after an illegal formation penalty), and 2 touchdown drives of less than 20 yards, including a spectacular sideline throw and catch...where we dominated every other offensive and defensive statistic.? Unfortunate and weird game.



Yes, we made some colossal mistakes and the ball definitely didn't bounce/tip our way, but I do not view this as a bad loss. Just very unfortunate.
