Gary Anderson Wins That Game

Gary woulnd't have taken his foot off the gas in the 3rd.



He wins that game. No question.

Disappointment. I was pulling for USU all the way tonight. Almost.

I disagree. Anderson lost a ton of games 2 years ago by going conservative with a lead and losing it.

I think Gary learned his lessons and Matt Wells made some rookie mistakes last night. Not sure if USU is going to be good this year, but Gary doesn't make the same mistakes that Matt made.

Both I think. I noticed a big change in play calling once Chuckie started cramping. I think USU tried to go conservative to 1) protect Keeton 2) eat clock 3) not give away more of their playbook than necessary.



Unfortunately the USU Defense started playing soft and UoU's gambles paid off (onside kick and bomb on 3rd and short)



Still can't believe USU lost that game. 173 yards rushing, 77% completion, no picks, 160 QB rating, almost 500 yds total offense ... and you lose?

And Auburn, Colorado State, BYU, LaTech, and Ohio the year before.

And Oklahoma and Nevada the year before that.



Gary Anderson is a good coach but his record closing out close games is not good, I don't know where this idea came from, but it's not, people remember the 2 close (OT) wins last year, but he also lost 2 close games last year. IMO his record indicates that he has to blow out a team to beat them, if he lets them get close, he'll lose more often than not.
