Cal Home and Home Scheduled

#BYU and Cal have announced a two game football series. They will play at Cal on Nov. 29, 2014 and in Provo on Sept. 16, 2017.

surprised this didn't happen a long time ago. i remember Marshawn Lynch ripping Byu apart in the 05' vegas bowl... I also remember how bad the Cal fans were at the vegas bowl.. Like a bunch of preppy drunkin snobs!

Makes for a lot of travel in our 2014 road games--only two that could be considered "regional" in Cal and BSU. Three East Coast games:

Very good news. If you like Tom Holmoe,, thank Cal for firing him so he could come back home. Cal is a team we should play. My only issue is I wish this was sooner and more often.



BYU does very well against most PAC teams. Better than Utah does.



We should play Cal every day and twice on Sundays..........Wait. I think we need to skip Sunday.

From a recruiting and TV-market standpoint, BYU is doing really well to get road games in both northern and southern California. With set games at Cal, SJSU, Fresno St., USC and the Kraft and Poinsettia Bowls BYU has a ton of California games scheduled. And the rumors about Stanford and the Christmas bowl in LA will hopefully add to the total.



Now, I'd like to see the Cougs schedule some more games against Texas, TCU, and Houston and throw in a little SMU and UTSA.

Yes, but very winnable east-coast roadies (Uconn, UCF, MTSU) so I think it could be good practice for getting in the habit of winning after longish travel.

These kind of home-n-home matchups are exactly what BYU needs. Not only do we get an even series with a respectable team, but also get a late November game that's not against a directional university.

Not a huge fan of our 2014 schedule. all the hard games are away and a lot of the teams we play we don't really have any history with. People say it is better than a mwc schedule which is true but there is something to be said about playing teams taht you have a history with that makes them more entertaining.

They are perhaps trying to build some history. Some of those relationships could be good if they ever evolve to home and away deals. But building history with MTSU and UCF seems strained. UCONN - sure - if it brings some basketball with it.



I am ok with one random game back east roady and 1 coming here annually or a relationship with UCONN, BC, Pitt, Syracuse, PSU, if they include basketball.

I agree with the home versus road schedule. But who else would you like to see that we have history with? Wyoming? New Mexico?



We play Boise St., Utah St., UNLV, and Nevada - four of the closest universities in our region. We also get Texas and California.



I think the home schedule will turn out to be decent, although not great. Utah St. and Nevada have given us some good matchups in Provo over the last 3 or 4 years. Houston and Southern Miss are only a couple seasons removed from 11 or 12 win seasons. Virginia is improving. UNLV is an old MWC and WAC foe from our region.



Road games in the recruit-rich and nice TV markets of California, Texas, AND Florida (not to mention NYC market with the UConn game). There are very few teams that can say that they play in ALL THREE big football states, let alone in the same season!



Best part of the schedule? EVERY game is winnable. Road games at Texas, Boise St., and California legitimize the schedule, while the home schedule lends to an undefeated home season. Run at the new CFP?!?
