What year is 2013 going to remind us of?

I think we're in for a repeat of 2005.



I think the offense will be inconsistent but show the ability to put up big points and rack up tons of yardage.



I think the defense is going to struggle to stop the pass - especially teams w/ speed on the outside that can hurt us deep.

With the DBs going down, we might have to outscore all our opponents.

2007- With a lot of games like the Tulsa game where it's the first team to 50 wins. If the final record looks like 2007 though it'd be a sweet sweet year.

2005.... Byu's first year under Anae and a new offense. Move the ball great between the 20's and struggle to score in the blue zone. Poor secondary play and lots of zone.

Bowl bound team. Nothing special. The first year of learning a new offense. Takes a year to get a hang of it ( 2006 was good and I think 2014 will be too)

We'll probably lose a game early in the season, but I think we can bounce back and still go to a BCS bowl with the tough schedule.



Even if our defense drops 10 ranking spots from last year, Anae coming back will give this offense a real boost. All we needed to go to a BCS bowl last year was an offense that could put points on the board.

My hope is that it will remind us of 2013. It will be such a unique and spectacular season that it will become the new year that we reference when we discuss BYU's greatness, greatest team, and greatest year.

2007 - Okay, only on one point and probably nothing else - being that I remember going into 2007 there were lots of questions around Max Hall. Most fans knew he had the talent and lots of potential, but there wasn't a lot of actual playing experience to form any conclusions on and most people just weren't sure how good he would be. He came out that first year and was great - gave us 3 great years and was a fierce competitor. Took a lot of criticism from time to time, but when you were being realistic about it (and especially looking back after he was done at BYU) you were like, wow, he was a pretty **** good quarterback. Maybe not one of the all time greats, but still preeeetty **** great. I think Taysom will be much the same.

It seems that Byu wins the games they are supposed to now-a-days. 6-6 to me is Bronco's base and a lot would have to go wrong for that to happen.

I'll admit... no one was as bad as Gary Crowton... man, what a disaster he was as HC. But Bronco isn't much better. If you want an eye-opener, for all the games he's won since taking over as HC in 2005, go back and look at what his record is against top 40 opponents and schools with a winning percentage of at least .667 in the season he faced them. It's abysmal. From 2005 to 2010 (while Bronco was still coaching in the dumpy MWC), he was literally assured of 7 automatic wins every year because of the 6 dogs in the league and always throwing in a division I-AA school. From 2005 to 2010, the Cougs went 6-6, 11-2, 11-2, 10-3, 11-2 and 7-6. If you subtract the 7 automatic wins from each of those seasons, he's 0-6, 4-2, 4-2, 3-3, 4-2 and 0-6 for a real record of 15-21 for those 6 seasons.

News flash: EVERYONE has a bad record against top 40 oppoinents with a winning percentage of at least .667 in the season they face them. It's simple math.



I can play, too: Neither Bronco nor BYU has EVER beaten a team that finished the season undefeated. How pathetic is that? In 2004, BYU went 0-3 against such teams. A high school team with an offensive line comprised solely of JV cheerleaders could have gone at LEAST 1-2 in those games.

I forgot to point out we are already coming off an 8-5 season with three different QBs starting at least one game, just like 1992.
