Talk on Prayer

Just to share this story from Friday Night. I was at our State Republican Platform Convention. At the banquet, I was sitting next to a lady named Sandy. She was a Christian conservative and we were talking about religion and prayer and whatnot. We moved her about 20 years ago and planned to stay only a couple years. When we talked about moving my girls would cry. They didn't want to leave their friends and we could trust them in the neighborhood. They could go to the park or the pool and we didn't have to worry about their safety. When the two girls graduated, Robin went to the Y and Emmy went to the U of O.



Well talking to the oldest, I want her to go the local CC because I teach there and she could go for free. She said, "Dad I prayed about it and I feel I need to go to BYU". What can you say to that. I agreed she could go.



Then Sandy said, "weren't you afraid she would join the Mormon Church?" Uh we are members. Don't worry it wasn't awkward. I was sharing my thoughts about the party and my talk on Prayer. Basically sharing my testimony for 20 minutes.



The funny thing was that I had carpooled with our county chair who is an evangelist and he thought it was the funniest thing he ever heard. The car ride was 4 hours each way so we had a chance to talk about a lot of things.



Great experience even though I hated the way the convention went.
