Position Group You Are LEAST Concerned About?

It was close, but while it didn't garner a majority, it did obtain a plurality. The RB corps is the group with the second fewest concerns. I think this next position group is probably fairly obvious too, but, nevertheless, we'll ask the question and then see how the debate heats up next week.



Here's how the position groups breakdown listed from most concerned to least concerned.

Hoffman, Apo, Ridley, Matthews, Falslev. There is a ton of talent, play-making and experience at this position. These guys should make THill's life very easy. Many of them are big targets who have good hands that can react to the ball and make tough catches.



WRs need to make their QBs look good and these guys can do just that. Between these five receivers, they have 392 catches for 4,737 yards and 44 TDs.

This poll needs an asterisk or a redo. "Plurality"? :-)

After news released on Alisa's set backs and Mathews emergence, this is clearly out of order. I voted WR last time.

Hoff > Williams--relative to last years productivity. They are the two stars.

Then the supporting cast of the WR > the supporting cast of RB.

I know, I picked WRs last time too.

I picked TE. I think as a group they will be productive enough. They are most likely to meet my expectations of performance. We need our receivers to be good if not great. I'm not seeing it from that position. Yes, we have Hoffman and he is great. Everybody else?

As a group, I guess the WR are probably really good, but never pick WRs early, because too much of their game is based on the QB. I'm going DL with the emergence of a true NT.

Also a good point with the news from camp. It would be interesting to compare and contrast this poll toward end of camp.

QB. After Riley I have 100% confidence that this group will not only not be worse than him but actually get us back to BYU-esque performance levels.



I see WR is the popular choice, but honestly, outside of Hoffman we don't really know what we have at that position. And since there is only 1 QB on the field at a time I put a lot more faith in Taysom and Ammon doing their jobs well than a whole group of partially unknown receivers.

QBs. Hill -> Olsen -> Munns -> Stewart -> Green. We seem pretty stacked this year. Hill looks about ready to explode onto the scene. Even if he goes down, we have studs all the way down the depth chart. I hope we don't get down to Green, but it wouldn't be the first time in recent memory that we had to rely on a freshman.



Yes, WRs looks stacked too. Hoffman, Apo, Falslev, Ridley and Matthews should give the QBs plenty of targets. TEs should re-emerge this year with Anae returning. RBs look very good with Williams, Hine, Alisa, and Lasike giving a good variety of running styles.



O-line will need to deliver for any of this skill player potential to come to fruition. A pretty obvious point, but one that needs to be emphasized nonetheless. The quality coaching, I believe, will pull us through the bumps in the early season though. We have two former Cougar OL-men on staff that helped lead our teams to some of the most productive offenses and successful seasons ever. One is the OC who played for the National Championship team, and the other was the Center for our only Heisman winner. I like our chances.



The defense, even without Ziggy and Ogletree, will have a similar year to last year. We still have Van Noy, a Lombardi candidate and sure-bet All-American. The 'stache is back, Hadley. Sorensen is the glue of the secondary, and has made some huge plays. Bronson Kaufusi, I think, will make us forget about losing Ziggy. Though not as fast, he is very good. He has gotten bigger, and made a lot of plays even in Ziggy's shadow last year. Both had the same number of sacks per game. Remember, Ziggy was still very raw even in his Sr season. I think Kaufusi has a bigger upside for us at BYU, though I don't know about the NFL. He has more experience as a football player, and being a dual sport athlete, he will be able to deflect passes and use some fancy footwork carried over from basketball.

I would contend that Munns > Stewart. Munns proved it aging yesterday. If hill and Olsen went out, it outed be half a game and Munns would be history. Stewart has game. He is shrewd and quick on his feet and he has a sweet throwing delivery. Munns has none of that. Experience, such as it is, and height will not be sufficient in this offense and under Anae.



To WRs add, #88, Eric Thornton. He will see some balls this year. He did t-out practice yesterday.



Don't plan on the TE to reemerge in this O. Minimally, yes. But, the talent isn't exactly great and the scheme won't be like last round with Anae.



We won't be forgetting Ziggy any time soon. But BK will help ease the pain. He is good. He will be great. He will play on Sundays if he doesn't get injured. And playing bball only helped his endurance and conditioning. He was already super fast as a DE and almost as fast as Ziggy in the 40. He will be a handful for Olines particularly if Marques Johnson has come on strong as camp reports have noted.



THe Oline will continue to be the biggest question mark. If any group of coaches could max their prep, it is this one (and isn't there a grad asst Oline guy helping as well?) if the Oiine comes together by end of camp. BYU will be very good this year.



Oh yeah. Have to, have to! get a boundary corner prepped. He got picked on several times yesterday. I like Leavitts speed and potential. But he is still young. Robertson didnt look too bad, we'll have to wait and see.

I was giving Munns the benefit of the doubt since he was a Senior. I have seen Stewart's highlights and they are pretty impressive. Both seem to be very good backups.

Unfortunately Munns is not a good backup, if that's who you're referring to. If we ever have to rely on him to QB in a game, I would not like our chances. We would be better served to direct snap to a running back and run on every down.

I am holding out hope that the story of Gideon will apply to our corners this year. Addition by subtraction.

Also, Thornton dropped the first two passes that hit him in the chest on scrimmage day.
