Not so fast, this is the SEC, who essentially owns the NCAA. Johnny football will claim that they paid his dad without his knowledge and he'll be scott free!

Why would a broker come out and throw him under the bus? He's giving up any future in the business for 15 minute of fame. Seems fishy but I think Manziel likely did it. There's too much evidence piling up.

Regardless of that Manziel is a moron. All this kid has to do is ask and his dad seems to give him any money he wants.

Because the Broker expected to be well paid when Manziel went pro. I would be willing to bet that Manziel told him to get lost so the broker is now going to blow up his career.

Rules are rules, I get that. Does anyone think its a silly rule that the players don't have ownership of there own name? The ncaa profits from players "names" but the actual individuals can't... Tuff subject to define I'm sure.

If a college player can work a PT job and that's kosher, why can't he sell his own autograph to make money... The selling or your autograph could be a part time job of sorts and let you focus your time on school and football much easier than 20 hours a week someplace... To me their is a line on boosters giving money, or players making 100 an hour doing nothing at a job, but selling your autograph???

Agree.

The NCAA isn't worried about protecting the student athlete; they are worried about their bottom line. Their rules are in place not to ensure fair play, but rather to ensure that all the money goes through the schools.

There are several athletes whose popularity peaks in college and whose game won't or likely won't translate to the pro level. Examples include Jimmer, Eric Crouch, and yes Johnny Manziel. Why not let them cash in on their success in college? Universities don't have to pay the athletes, let businesses pay them.

But that's the problem, if Ken Garff is paying Jimmer to sell cars then they are giving less money or no money to BYU. The NCAA is looking out for their own money by demanding labor at below market value for top athletes.

The argument could be made that since Manziel made more money of this than Green it could/should be a longer suspension.

If they can prove it (unlikely) it will be 2-4 games. Some people are saying Manziel lied to the NCAA about it (like Green did) but it sounds like he simply wouldn't talk to them so more likely 2 games.

Lame rule BTW.
