Camp Day 1 report

Bronco said Marques Johnson has undergone "a transformation" since spring; was first-string nose tackle all day. Bronson and Manu at ends.



Dallin Leavitt a lot of reps at boundary corner. M Davis WR was most impressive newcomer with his speed. M Hauge has a knee issue and Alisa sore arm to be held out a couple of weeks. KVN tweeked his hamstring.



T Hill looks like a Safety now. I'm not sure what to make of that.



Overall I say it looks good so far.

Also saw JC CB Sam Lee has back issues and won't be available for the opener. BIG time issues at boundary corner hopefully the other JC corner Robertson Daniel or Leavitt can step up

I think I read that Anae said he looked like an NFL safety. THill put it in perspective that Anae only saw him after surgery and not early in season 2012.

I stood next to him and he looked like a college safety last year. I'm sure he is not much lager, but is a finely tuned athlete. So make it that....he is buff, strong, very fit, and ready to take some pounding as he runs this offense. Just hopefully not any pounding to his knees.

JD Falslev talks about the first day - seems like team is pumped and ready to go fast, go hard.

1st Team: Cody Hoffman (Z), Skyler Ridley (X), and JD Falslev (H).

2nd Team: Mitch Mathews (Z), Ross Apo (X), and Eric Thornton (H).

Third and fourth stringers at the flanker positions: (Z) - Kurt Henderson, Michael Davis

(X) - Marcus Mathews and Colby Pearson.

With the transformation of M. Johnson's body and attitude, and Tony Kanuch's improvements seems like the DT improvement is making gains from last Spring practice. With the arrivals of Utu, Meti and Peoples...our depth at NG might be much better than anticipated.

This was the most player specific report I have seen. The offense had some flashes but overall - impotent relative to scoring. Turnover prone.



Apo dropped a TD pass to kill one drive. Made a diving catch on a previous play.



Ridley. yeah. Ridley. Hoffman invisible. He missed one due to tight D coverage.



Hopefully we get a detailed report like this one daily.

A live witness said Offense looked better than results on paper. Certainly have things to sort out, but makes sense that the D is ahead of the O.
