I can't say that I've been paying that much attention, but did he get a scholie offer after Chapman turned down BYU yesterday and went with Puktah? I hadn't heard much of him, but generally I have confidence in Rose. He's had some busts, but they did appear to be athletes of D-1 caliber. Seems like he's had worst luck with juco player than any.

Power Forward - American Fork H.S.

listed as 6'10"/200 lbs (needs to put on weight)

Class of 2014

He had four scholarship offers and we beat out Yewts and DairyCows - we had some very tough competition.

He runs the court very well and averaged 19.5 pts/game as Jr.

With him playing for a year before going on his mission - we now have added some depth on the frontline.

I guess what I'm wondering is if Chapman and Dastrup both would have committed already, would that have shut out Andrus?

This can't be right. I thought Utah owned in-state bball recruiting?

Oh, I get it, this Utah's sloppy seconds.

Yes, Andrus took Chapman's offer.

It should be clear that Andrus is a better fit at BYU than Chapman regardless of Scout ranking of the two players.

Andrus has plans to serve a mission after playing one year. He feels that the environment at the Y is condusive before and after his mission. Chapman, on the other hand, did not place as much value on this aspect of the school although he did recognize the BBall program was flourishing under Rose - much more so than UT.

It's been rumored that Brekkot Chapman before deciding on committing to Utah, announced that BYU was making a late move and he was considering the Cougs. But it was really more to help the perception that Utah is an up and coming team, one that is beginning to lose recruits to Utah.'

Just something to think about. A kid who never shows any real interest in BYU, three days before he decides he's going to Utah is telling people that BYU is really up there now - even in his top 3 - and then decides he's committing to the Utes.

Hmmm.

Won't matter he won't sniff the NCAA tourney while he's there. However losing Loveridge still hurts me and it did give the U more life than I would like.
