Game of the Year

BYU at Notre Dame, Nov. 23

Notre Dame missed two field goals but survived a 17-14 thriller against BYU in 2012. This year the Irish will enjoy two weeks off to prepare for the late-season showdown, while BYU gets a warm up against Idaho State the week before.

- BYU quarterback Taysom Hill will be the hot name going into 2014.



- The Cougars will start the season 0-3 losing at Virginia and at home against Texas and Utah.

REally don't see BYU losing the first three. Anything could happen though. Don't think Rees will be as dominant as this makes him seem. Punter with biggest shoes to fill???/



BTW, this is the first I've heard of Scott Arellano. Anyone know about him?

I see 2-1 as a more-likely start than 0-3, personally. Maybe even 3-0 more likely than 0-3, though very unlikely itself.



Arellano was on the team last year, the primary back-up. This year is his year. Still, going for it on 4th-down may become a "thing" for Anae...

I would not be suprised to see byu fop the first three. i agree that they will get substantially better as the year goes on. that is why i worrya bout the first three games. i see us winning a squeaker against va and then losing to texas and utah. i am hopeful about utah but i think byu is scared and winning that game is going to be difficult. i think 1-2 is more likely but that 0-3 would not be surprising.



i hope not because utah is likely to win their first three. it just wont sit well and it will depress the fans and ruin the season right away.



i think the va game is huge. that is because nobody will care if we lose to texas and winning va and then losing to texas will give us confidence to beat the utes at home with two weeks to prepare. apparently bronco needs the extra time to out do whitt. I don't want to face utah given our recent history at 0-2.

Suicide prevention units better start gathering the names and contact info of Cougar fans right now, so they're prepared for nonstop interventions if BYU goes 0-3.

Odds of 0.425 vs VA on the road plus 0.375 Vs Texas at home plus 0.575 Vs Utah at home give us 1.375 wins as most likely. Utah is the most likely win in that stretch. Actually 3-0 and 0-3 are almost equally likely. And 2-1 is only slightly less likely than 1-2. Almost equally likely.



Add in .605 for MTSU and 2-2 start or better. Then 3-3 or better. Then 4-4 or better. Then 5-5 or better. Then 6-6 or better. Plus a Bowl win.



As long as we do not lose to a team Las Vegas predicts that we will beat - we go 7-6. An upset win or two in our favor, and we win 8 or 9.

If BYU starts 0-3 I will have a lot of time on my hands this football season as there won't be anything worth watching on the field. This will be the worst team since the Crowton years and we will have a losing season. Guaranteed.

Detmer started his senior season 0-3 after ending his Heisman season on an 0-2 streak. The rest of that season was still worth watching.
