BYU-USU series

Makes sense.



USU has been giving us a run for our money lately too. We need meaningful games in November and USU isn't as big a powder puff as it used to be.

Which of these games were previousl scheduled? If I remember correctly it was 2013, 2014, 2015.

Correct. 2013 in Logan and 2014 and 2015 in Provo. The new deal adds the 2016 November game in Provo and switches the 2015 game to Logan, but in November.



Not bad.



I'm excited to learn what the other changes are for BYU's 2014 and 2015 schedules.



I honestly hope we see the Southern Miss games dropped and two quality opponents in November 2014, one in LES. For 2015, I hope we get a quality November opponent in LES and another quality opponent the Friday night before General Conference (to replace the USU game that was moved to Thanksgiving weekend).



I guess I'm crossing my fingers for some truth to the Big 12 affiliation rumors.

BYU just signed a one-and-done in Logan, Utah. That's pathetic.



Speaking of pathetic, in 2016 BYU has 5 road games, 1 home game contracted? Holmoe has a tough job, but dang. Will we end up getting Idaho, Idaho State, and NMSU in Provo that year again? http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/mtn-west/byu-cougars.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The switch from a home game in 2015 to a road game interests me...that means that BYU must have picked up a home game for that year that they weren't expecting.



The USU/BYU game actually means something to some of the fans. Putting it in November is a good idea. If we're giving home and home series to MTSU, we probably should to USU as well.



Holmoe is still looking for 2 games next year (the SMS games will not be on the final schedules). Wondering if a couple of the ND games are getting put in in 2015 and either 14/16.

Yes that was the point of my previous post.



This is a one and done with USU. If this were a H-H for 2016 and 1017 I'd still think this was a bad idea but come on.

Notre Dame just moved its 2014 game with Temple to 2015 and still has 13 games scheduled for 2014. They will drop/postpone either Rice, Purdue, or Northwestern. I think 2015 is full as well.



My guess is that we host Notre Dame in 2017 and 2019 and travel to South Bend in 2018 and 2020 (or at least 4 games in 6 years from 2017 to 2022). Also, don't be surprised if BYU gets a deal with Temple and Rice or Purdue (whichever gets dropped/postponed by Notre Dame for the 2014 game).



I honestly think we will see a decent opponent in November 2014 and a really good opponent in early October 2015...in LES.

Humbling. We have to beg for 6.

And he was flat out wrong. Note Dame occasionally gets 7 homes games, however, they had only SIX in 2011, 2012 and this 2013 year.



Also, it should be noted that HALF of the PAC 12 and HALF of the Big 12 only have 6 home games scheduled most years - see 2013 schedules for Oklahoma, Texas, UCLA, etc. Also, Washington State has only 5 home games in 2013 (Stanford "home game" is in Seattle).



ALL SEC teams have at least 7 home games and many have 8. There are only a handful of non-SEC programs that ever have 8 home games. Amazingly, Virginia is one of the those teams in 2013, with BYU, Oregon, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech (and VMI, Ball State, and Duke)

The 8 game ND quote seemed wierd to me, too. But I just searched 2014 ND. Bleacher report had an article about the befuddled mess created by the ACC agreement and how it will force ND from its typical 7-4-1 scheduling model into a 6-5-1 schedule. It is difficult to count and analyze when ND shows @Navy but lists a neutral site field. They had 2 or 3 like that penciled in. BYU historically has given 2-1 to ND. So do many others. Or they take a neutral site game. ND is getting smarter. But, SEC rules when it comes to avoiding fair play.
