Royal Blue throwback uniforms today

Over on cougarboard, multiple posters are claiming that we'll be in royal blue today.



Two of the posters are quite reputable and one included a picture taken from Unga's locker.



Seems legit.

I figured I'd better add that I loved the Royal Blue Uniforms. That is BYU to me, not the Utah State Navy Blue rip offs. ;) Bring back the royal!!!!

These were awesome in HD! I heard that the University will auction them to raise money for the scholarship fund.

Okay, quick unofficial poll, as soon as everyone found out that the team was "going royal," who changed into one of their old shirts to match? I did! I've got a genuine original 1st year Superfans T-shirt from my freshman year (the year of the DOINK, if anyone's curious), as I understand it, the only year the superfan shirt was in royal blue. It must have shrunk a LOT sitting in that drawer for so long ( :P ), but it felt good to put the old colors on. I'd like to hope it helped with the win (maybe just a little bit?).

Yea.

I imagine a lot of fans didn't know about the royal blue until the players entered the field. We only got to the game a couple minutes early, so I'm curious to hear what the crowd reaction was when the players came out.

I walked out to my seats about an hour before kickoff and I had to do a double-take. Royal Blue throwbacks!!! Wooo! we were pumped to see it. And it was awesome to hear people coming down to their seats and then looking up and noticing. The crowd, at least where I sit, was really appreciative.

The fans went crazy. I was in the south endzone, and everyone loved it. My only regret is that I didn't have my old BYU t-shirt to wear.

As fun as it was to see the old unis, I think I still prefer the new color. The dark blue is much better.

The royal blue looked really good in HD on the Mtn. I like the idea of a throwback jersey to be used on special occasions, like the Notre Dame greens.

Yeah, I can go with that. Games where the royal blue would be appropriate: the Utah game - but not every year, maybe once every four or five so each senior class would have a chance to wear it against the U; a big opponent at a neutral site - like Oklahoma was this year; a big bowl game - like a BCS bowl game. But I don't think I'd like to wear it more than once a year.
