So is this like being a preferred walk on? If he makes the team he will get a scholarship?

It is more like a partial scholarship that will become guaranteed at some point during the season if he is still with the team.

Usually when this happens it means several teams had offers to joining their summer league teams and fall training camps. The Clippers wanted to make sure they had Davies as an option. So they probably guaranteed 60-100K.

Davies stat line was okay- but he needs to do more to make the team.

Heard he did good on defense.

5 boards, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 4 points. The stat that confuses me is 0-2 on three pointers; he shot two threes?

Do we make anything of the fact that both the Clips and Davies opine that the one thing he needs to work on the most is work ethic?

Any "what ifs" for Cougar fans in that?

Never got the sense Davies was a gym rat. He improved marginally between his Junior and Senior year, which is probably why he didn't get drafted.

If $1.5 million isn't enough motivation, I don't know what is.

I think most NBA teams want their bigs to weigh 245-255. Davies will need to be stronger to rebound consistently.

Watched a little of the game against D League Select team.

Davies moving well on D and boxing out. Made a few jumpers. But can't get position or make moves the post-- he lacks strength. Without him getting stronger I don't see him making an NBA roster. But his defensive mobility and hustle is valuable. His jumper needs to be improved too.

Davies got his first start in the last game of the summer league season (good sign?). He scored 14 points, had 6 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block in 28 minutes of play. Closed out strong, let's hope it means something.

That's pretty impressive. Filled up a stat sheet.

That kind of stat sheet will get you upwards of $5MM a year for the next decade in the NBA....if you can replicate it in the NBA.

Let's just hope it gets him $1.5M for the next year.

Davies might get to squeezed out.

Mullens, DeAndre Jordan and Ryan Hollins at Center.

At PF they have Griffin. Many Clippers fans believe Odom will come back at backup PF.

That would bring them to 14 players under contract. Usually teams leave a spot open for trade flexibility or incase of string of injuries at on position.
