Been meaning to pat Payne on the back

Not once this year, has the kicking game caused us to lose a game (the OU game was close with the out of bounds kick) but Mitch Payne has exceeded all of our expectations)

He's 98%+ on PATs (missed one against Tulane; and that might have been a block, it's been a while)

and been very good on field goals, even hitting a 49 yarder vs Air Force.



I was really worrried about the kicking game going into this season and Payne has somehow found a nice comfort zone and performed well. Kudos



Our special teams next year should be very good with Stephenson missing all of the mission rust and Payne going into his senior year with some confidence.



We normally don't give these guys a lot of credit, but they certainly deserve some for what's been a pretty solid season.



We won't need to sit around pining for Justin Sorenson next year; he'll be back in time to take over for a pretty competent Mitch Payne... (don't make me look bad today Mitch ;) )

I agree. I was so happy for him that he made that 49 yard field goal. The coaches showed a lot of confidence in him as well, as it was our first score of the game. I believe we would have punted it if it was earlier in the season.

Like I said before, if egging a car = 52-0 over Wyoming, I'd buy a gross and let people go to town on my SUV.
