Vs. Boise State, Vs. Utah, and on the road @ Utah State are 3 games that BYU has lost time and time again this past decade and a half. BYU should have a better team than each of those programs this year, especially with home field advantage. If we win those 3, it should be a great, great season.

Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Texas are locks to finish over .500 this season. Georgia Tech has finished above .500 eight times in the last decade. Viginia 5 times.
Why does this matter?
BYU over the last 20 years is 6-23 in the regular season vs. major teams that finish over .500, 2-13 on the road against such competition. Bronco is 2-7 against such teams.
If those teams play like they normally do, then we probably get only one win against those five and that could easily put us on track for a 6-6 season.

scott715Well if you take 6 games that we are underdog and assume we loss them all you get 6-6. In real life you win some of those and get a better record.

byucougar1This year more than ever BYU needs to get off to a fast start and win early and often. Too often they historically prep well for first game, play well against lesser opponents and lay an egg against similar or better ranked teams. If they correct the letdown, they get the big "Mo" in the beginning, the confidence and swag will build up and invincibility mentality will become the norm.

Utah/Virginia are likely to be sub-.500 teams this year. I think BYU beats GT and loses to Texas/Wiscy/ND. Win the rest (including Boise State and @ USU) and BYU is 9-3. Which would be sweet.
7-5 is my best guess though right now.
