I'm going with Georgia Tech. Bronco knows how to defend the option. It's a long trip for a team from the deep South.

Although Bronco does know the option better than any other defensive coach, GT got a lot better at the tail end of last season, we don't have Ziggy, and they'll be hankering for revenge. I'm going MTSU on this one.

I expect Houston to still be a wreck since they lost their coach a year ago.

I'm going w/ Houston by a whisker over USU. People picking MTSU haven't actually seen that team play. That is a potentially dangerous team - hopefully the team doesn't overlook them as much as the fans will/are.

Last year lost to McNeese St., Louisiana Monroe, Miss. St., and a 45-0 loss to Arkansas State.

...and also kicked the crap out of GT (in Atlanta). Hey, I'm not saying that they are some juggernaut, but they have some very athletic players and they are not your traditional "weak" sunbelt team. We aren't going to win by just showing up. UH and USU games will both be easier...and maybe GT too.

Yep, they beat a bad team (GT was a very bad team early). Good for them.

If this were the schedule for any other team than BYU, I'd possibly pick Utah in this slot. I really don't think they're going to be very good this year, but may be a top 3 difficult game for BYU.



I'm picking between UVA (lost their starting QB and RB, Bronco with a month to prepare) and Houston, who was a wreck last year. MTSU seems like the easy answer, but they have a good coach and decent athletes.

I had to go with Nevada though I was tempted to go with Houston. Why? Hall-of-Fame head coach Chris Ault retired this year, and Nevada has fewer athletes than almost any team on our schedule. Yeah, but they dive at the back of your knees and then brag about it like tough guys on social media.

This is a tough one. I really don't know. Compelling arguments for Houston and Nevada. I would also throw the Ags in there. I think Gary's loss will be big and some key players gone and Van Ny to key on Chuckie.

But I have to go with Nevada. By end of season, they will be ready to pack it in after a tough season.

I chose Houston. Porous defense. They give up a ton of points (last year and historically). Sumlin proved that he was a major factor in Houston's recent success. Biggest win last year was over 7-6 Rice in a rivalry game.



Plus, the leading running back, Charles Sims, is transferring to Cal or West Virginia. They now have to replace 14 TD's and 1,200 combined rushing/receiving yards. The only reason this isn't a "for sure" is because it is on the road.
