He was benched at half-time after getting behind 14-3 in a game vs - you guessed it - Utah State. Wiscinsin came back to win, iirc, and O'Brien never saw meaningful playing time again.
He is transferring this year to get PT, but you can only take advantage of the "play immediately" exception once, so he may have to go down a division.
Adding to the irony, Bielema bolted, and iirc, USU lost their head coach to Bucky.
