Wins over Ewetes, Dairy Ewetes, Donkeys, wHoos, Gamblin' Wreck, another 12-pack team, and the Clovers. Not a bad season. I am hopeful that we can at least compete with the Shorthorns and CheeseBadgers.

I can't pick us to beat Utah. We've lost too many games under Bronco when we were the better team that day (2010) or when we had the better team that year(2005, 2011, 2012). And too many close wins that shouldn't have even been a contest (2006, 2007, 2009).

I do think we'll win our bowl game which puts us at 9-4. And that record will be a better team than the 10-3 team of a few years ago. I think an 8-5 team this year would smoke an 8-5 last year team.

I'm intrigued that nobody gives BYU a chance at ND inspite of the fact BYU all but beat ND last year--with an awful offense. With a decent QB, BYU wins that game. No reason BYU can't win there this year either.

I see the Utah State game as a trap game. USU is seething that they believe they should have beaten BYU the past two years but didn't. But by the time BYU plays USU, the team should have settled into an identity, either they are really good, or really mediocre; if BYU is really good, they smoke USU, if mediocre, USU gets their revenge in this game.

And BYU has yet to prove they can beat Boise, yes we should have beaten then last year, and the time before that, but we didn't. Boise plays good football and BYU will have to play good football to beat them.

And as for Utah, all the psychologicals are in BYU's favor this year, home game, seething from recent defeats, have a quality QB, will not play them again for awhile, Utah arrogance and Pac 12 arrogance plays into BYU's favor this time, it's now or never in BYU player's minds. BYU wins it this time.

The reason for me is that this year, I'm not taking the QB on faith. BYU needs to prove to me they can run a better offense and have a more productive QB than the last several years.

I disagree on your psychologicals favoring BYU.

Psychological 1 - Home game: BYU is 3-7 in last 10 home games vs Utah. Bronco is 2-2.

Psychological 2 - Seething from recent defeats: Hasn't made a difference before. We've lost three straight, four of five and eight of 11. We have so many of "recent defeats" to be seething from that we don't have any "recent" victories to be savoring.

Psychological 3 - Quality QB: Taysom Hill is almost a complete unknown. And it's been a LONG time since BYU had a quality QB performance vs Utah. BYU QBs have met the PER standard (135) exactly ONE time in the last 12 meetings.

Psychological 4 - We won't play them in a while: So wouldn't this make Utah equally as motivated since that also won't play us in a while?

Psychological 5 - Utah & PAC12 arrogance: I guess I can agree on this one. Especially since PAC12 arrogance has smacked Utah right in the face, they may be feeling down on themselves for how far and fast their program has slipped.

Psychological 6 - Now or never: See my reasoning for number 4.

I'm not sure BYU can beat Utah this year.

Agreed. Notre Dame lost their two leading rushers, an all american tight end, and all american middle linebacker to the NFL. (Same QB as last year). BYU's defense won't be as good, but Notre Dame's offense won't be nearly as good (Riddick, Wood, and Eiffert were the Irish offense last year). Notre Dame's defense will take a minor bump downwards - BYU's offense will be a big improvement. And, most of the 2013 roster has been through the South Bend experience.

BYU wins by a touchdown.

That's a very thorough analysis Spiff but you're forgetting a few key things:

1- There's still approximately 100 days left for Brian Blechen to get kicked out of school for smoking pot. Assuming Dr. Chris "not a super bowl winner" Hill

2- Their QB throws like a girl. (And I'm not just saying that as a cougar fan.)

3- We have Kyle Van Noy

4- We have a new QB

What a bunch of mambie pambies - I GUARANTEE that BYU kicks the crap out of :utard: this year. First double digit win over the dirty stinking filthy :utard: bags since 1996.

Well, with only 7 inputs (including Massey) here's what we have:

at Virginia 81.6%

Texas 44.3%

Utah 54.1%

Middle Tenn St. 86%

at Utah St. 64.7%

Georgia Tech 75.6%

at Houston 79.6%

Boise St. 53.6%

at Wisconsin 33.9%

Idaho St. 99.7%

at Notre Dame 35.3%

at Nevada 79%

Average: 66%

Record: 9-3

Overall Most Blue-Eyed: Y 4 Ever with an average of 77% and a predicted record of 10-1-1 (he put 50% for Notre Dame)

Most Pessimistic: SpiffCoug with an average of 59% and record of 8-4 although scott715 has a record of 6-5-1.

Closest to the average: Massey +3% and byufan4ver -3%, both with a 9-3 record.

Games with smallest range in predictions: Idaho St. 1%; at Virginia/at Nevada 15%

Games with largest range in predictions: Utah 95%; at Wisconsin/at Notre Dame 40%

I am the only one to predict wins for at Wisconsin (we have a bye before this game!) and at Notre Dame (we played them so close last year!).

Massey is the only one to predict a loss for at Utah St.
