BYU Junior Day

BYU has historically received a number of commitments during this camp. From what the coaches are indicating, there are a number of real talents attending the camp that they hope to lock down. While I don't recall all that will attend, I am hoping that we are able to land a few that have looked quite good on film:



Nick Kurtz - WR

Alex Suchesk - RB

Kevin Griffin - CB

Tre Watson - RB

Isaiah Brandt-Sims - RB

Alijah - Micah Holder - WR/CB

Keegan Karim - DB/WR

Iirc, scholarships are in short supply for 2014, so BYU needs to make every schollie count.

Yes - I believe 13 or so schollies are available. Clearly they are precious and likely will be used to shore up weaknesses or just get all-around athletes who can play multiple positions.

Junior Day? So that's what's going on at the stadium. I live basically next door to it. They're blasting videos of classic BYU football plays through the video boards. Pretty cool.

Yeah - I'm anxious to get some "scoop" on what's going on this weekend @ Junior Day.

We landed two big OL this weekend: Austin Chambers (6-5/285) and Chandon Herring (6-7/265). Nick Kurtz and Tre Watson are very impressed with the teammates, facilities, coaches and Spirit. I believe that they will commit in the future.

I'm a little concerned about a 6' 7" OL. I would think he might be more valuable on the DL with those long arms - reaching up and knocking down passes. It will be interesting to see what develops.

Apparently those players at Jr. Day raved about Chandon's athleticism and even thought he might be good enough to play TE. Appears that DE/TE might be a possible position for him. If he puts on some weight, he also looks like a real good candidate for an OT protecting the QB blindside.

I spoke with Bronco on Saturday evening. He said we have FOUR scholarships.

Did you miss TEEN on the end of that? I assume that is 4 that have not been claimed yet.

Athleticism on the defensive side of the ball does have it's benefits. Look at the dividends paid with an athletic Ziggy, and KVN last year. Chalk up the '12 Poinsettia Bowl win to defensive athleticism and dominance.
