A pretty cool ESPN insider article on non-AQ teams. About BYU:

I see it as a bit of a backhanded compliment. We will be good, but still on the outside looking in. When teams in the Big5 conferences are good they aren't a thorn in college football's side, like something you want to pull out and throw away. They don't 'bust' into the big games like an uninvited party crasher. The pervasive language in college football, from 'mid-major' to 'bcs buster' to 'power conference' is so ridiculously biased to further the cause of the money disparity.



As long as we accept the language we accept the culture.



The govt does this all the time. And it totally works to get people to believe a certain way that they never would if different words were chosen.

Marijuana is Medicinal



You change the words to something more palatable and people support stuff they'd never support otherwise. In the world of college sports those with money want people to speak and write in ways that make it sound like 'mid majors' don't deserve a shot at the title because they aren't a 'major' team and if they are good we should be annoyed, like having a thorn in our side because they aren't in the club of teams that truly deserve to play in the big games.

That's not welfare those are tax "credits"!



I sure hope we're not trending even or else we're in for a sad dose of reality next year. We need an offense in a bad way. I say if we can have an average BYU offense with a young QB with a slight drop in defensive production we'd be trending way up from last year.
