One featured article goes to great lengths to show what a total bust the 2010 class was at QB. Something like 5 of the top 31 are expected to start for their original team in 2013. Over twenty transferred. Jake Heaps is pictured in KU attire including arm pads. He may still be one of the best but of a very week class compared to 2011 which already has more QBs starting.



Another article lists BYU along with a couple of old BEAST schools as the top 3 candidates if expansion ever gets legs again.



Another article indicates BSU booted its freshman all-american starting defensive end without explaining why. But maybe that will help us come up with an extra TD.



Lots of other players getting booted. Makes me hope all of the BYU players took stupid behavior vaccine this off-season. We cannot afford to lose any key players. We will already lack depth.

Two articles are there now. Cinci, USF, UCONN, and BYU are mentioned in both articles as being the best 4 programs not already in a Big 5 conference.



Other articles chronicle the move towards 9 conference game scheduling including pressure for SEC to get on board. Emphasis is on how it improves SOS, provides networks value due to more interesting games, but makes it harder for any conference to send max number of teams to bowls, because in an extra conference game, the conference gets a win and a loss instead of two cupcake wins. So staying bowl eligible gets harder for the weaker conference members. But SOS for the conference champ is higher and thus helps ensure that the conference gets 1 of the 4 playoff slots - important - 5 power conferences but 4 slots. Rollover games with lower division teams are getting squeezed out - fans happy - they have started buying individual game tickets instead of season tickets or buy season tickets but stay home for some games - not just in Provo. I've been saying since before Iggy's that the 2010 QB class was the weakest QB class in over a decade, which dilutes the significance of "top-rated." Heaps was the top-rated QB, but he didn't even crack the top-50 overall, and one of the services didn't even have a single 5-star QB in that class.

I thought I just read something about the BIG10 and maybe Pac12 discussing going to 8 game schedules.



And for what it's worth, there's really 2 spots available for 4 power conferences. The other 2 are for the SEC.

That is why SEC is getting pressure to follow the trend and go 9.



Where did you read Big 10 going to 8? Big 10 has announced a 9 game conference schedule beginning in 2016. Done Deal. Unanimous approval.

I guess it was just the PAC going to discuss it, not the BIG10

Imagine what Chris, not a super bowl champ, Hill would have to come up with now if they decide to go to 8 and he has to explain why they wont play us.
