Russ still thinks he's got a chance for one more year post mission but I really doubt he gets it.

But it seems like I recall hearing that Vic has been cleared or is likely to be cleared for another year.

Rebuilding year anyone?

I think this was supposed to be Utah's rebuilding year and they squeezed at least 9 wins this year. I'd be thrilled to do that next year after looking at this list.

While we may be a little short on experience going into next season, we have more talent, collectively speaking, waiting in the wings than BYU has ever enjoyed before. Don't expect an undefeated season, especially considering we'll be breaking in a new QB, but I would not be shocked to see us post another double digit win season.

I'd be very shocked to see us win 10 games next year. Road games to TCU, Utah and Florida St that I would chalk up as losses right now. That would mean we would have to go 9-0 against the rest of the schedule and bowl game to win 10 games. I'd be very excited if we won eight games next year.

I'd be fine if we only won 8 games (though any less than that and I were start to get a little displeased) however I am in no way willing to chalk up the puke game as a loss or the Florida State game. Florida State is a mess and you just never know with the Holy War. I'm certainly willing to call the TCU game a loss though unless Dalton decides to bolt early to the NFL which is very unlikely. As for the rest of the schedule, I'm not seeing any games that should give us any trouble even with a boatload of new starters on both sides of the ball.

Isn't this what we all thought after the 06 team? I guess we'll just have to see (and I do believe you could be right) but 2010 might surprise us all. 8)

I don't care if we win more than 6-7 next season as long as we see Apo, VanNoy, Wilson, Keoshian and crew unleashed. I want to see what 2011 will bring, since none of those guys are mission bound and/or LDS.

Word is, that Ogletree is going to make us forget all about any of our senior linebackers too. Then there's the legend of Devin Mahina... who depending on who you ask is going to be a monster.

Fua, Stout, Holt, Murphy, Jamora, Schwenke could all be in the mix to contribute too.

If Aufititi gets eligible and Vic gets his final year of eligibility, our ends (combined with Putnam and the freshmen) will be just fine.

We could use another DT though.

I do think our secondary will be improved as I have a strong feeling that Logan will be moved to Johnsons safety position and Buckner /Bradley will be our corners. (Travis Uale might have some say as to that though, as he's a pretty talented kid himself) Logan is our version of Bob Sanders and would make a solid safety, as he's a tackling machine, and I think Buckner will be ready to start somewhere (you can also hide lack of height at safety a little better than corner).

This alone with the Oline coming back intact and our receivers will be good for a bowl game. Harvey Unga could rush for 2000 yards, and he may need to.

If we're going to have rebuilding year, I hope that the coaching staff gets solid commitments from guys like Harvey Langhi early, rather than risk some wishy washy kids with short memories.

And that list deosn't include Harvey Unga who most people feel will be gone as well. Ouch :bug:

I think the list should include Austin Collie who would have been a senior....you know, just to honor the smart, smart, smart decision he made and the success he's having as a rookie with the Colts. ;)

These seniors have now earned BYU their best ever BCS Poll standing. If they win their last game, perhaps their biggest bowl game yet under Coach Mendenhall, they will have completed the best BYU football season since 1996... 8)

Which makes the FSU loss hurt even more. :angry: :angry:

Also, it's too bad that TCU was practically unstoppable this year.

And even though this team will end the year with its best BCS ranking, the 2006 team is still, to this day, the best Bronco mendenhall coached BYU team.

I'd agree that 2006 was the best Bronco M. coached team. After watching them that year I felt like they could have beaten anyone. Not the case this year.
