So which coach from Utah ranked highest in the poll released today and quoted in D News. Yes. Bronco Mendenhall - ranked closer to Saban, Meyers, and Petersen than his proximity to K Whitt. And KWhitt has been dropping like a rock ever since ramping up the old SOS.



Wait. The same could be happening to Bronco.



Gary A was about 50. Wait. The same might start happening to him.



Hopefully Bronco stays a long time and SOS is managed well in the future including home field advantage.

KWhitt was dropping before the increase in SOS. He's a poor coach and a bad motivator. His success came during the season Urban's recruits hit upperclassmen.

I guess you both must be right. Playing tougher opponents almost every week does not impacy W/L percentage. Probably a fluke that BYU lost more games last year. SOS won't impact us at all in 2013 either - most likely. We are still undfeated.



But yes - he inherited some players and coaches and went undefeated vs a much EASIER schedule than he plays now.



Could happen to anyone. Ask LaVell and Norm and Ty what happened when they stepped it up.



The BSU guy is the smart one - very manageable schedule - piles up WAC and now MWC wins - Top 5 coach. BAM.

I think Kwitt has done a pretty good job. But I think his "downswing" started when he lost Anderson and promoted Brian Johnson. So lets see what happens when Ericson gets here.

Had you acknowledged SOS in your response to my post as having some relevance, like I acknowledged inheriting players and a great DC, in my response to your response - you can expect a lot less sarcasm. But no worries. I have come to expect that. Thick skinned. Boo Ya



Total agree though - since you did not come right out and say SOS was not a factor - if you agree that SOS played a role in his demise - we are in total agreement - KWhitt inherited a good situation and that situation expired and he got killed by playing tougher opponents with his own recruits and coaches.



Where we disagree is the extremes of your comments. KWhitt is not horrible. He is not incredible. He is a decent enough MWC level coach - mediocre PAC coach.
