Ian Harward Cut?

Anyone confirm?



Supposedly BYU will still let him finish his education, but not part of the team anymore.

I've heard the rumor on the internet but nothing solid.

I hope they found a replacement for him then. Ryan Andrus maybe but he's still a year away

Yes, they have found his replacement. Luke Worthington next year and the Nielson kid (another potential tall, skinny, white, mormon kid who may or may not pan out) the following year. The ship has sailed or soon will sail on Ian. I Feel a little bad for him and his family, but he can still get his education, which is most important.

I can't confirm his cut or not. But the writing is on the wall.

Rose doesn't mess around with scholarships very long. If his education is still paid for, go make the most of it Ian. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave the program or have some medical problem that requires him to stop playing competitive basketball.

I think Harward is looking to transfer, in which case it could explain why nothing's come out of BYU yet. If they can do a press release that IH is transferring another school (UNLV?), it looks better all around. BYU hoops doesn't look like the Grinch for cutting guys, and IH avoids the stigma of being cut.

I have mixed feelings on this.



Ian hardly got any playing time, and when he did it was garbage time. He looked like a guy out there that didn't have much experience and he didn't. So part of me wonders if we ever really saw what Ian was capable of doing. Hard to tell if he improved because we hardly saw him.



The other part of me wasn't all that impressed with what little we did see. Plus, I believe there were rumors of Ian being disgruntled with Kaufusi joining the team. I'm not a fan of such rumors, though, I would understand why Ian felt slighted.



Should the rumor prove true that Ian is to be cut or transfer from the team, I'll defer to Rose knowing best on this one. There just better be someone better to take Ian's place.



I wonder how much Ian getting married factored into this...

something happened early in the year when IH's playing just stopped. Just speculating that he must have either had a run in with someone, wasn't in shape, got injured, wasn't picking up on the offense/defense, etc. But there does seem to be a point early in the season when Coach just decided to sit him and essentially gave up on him there. I have no idea why.

From what I saw of him he didn't seem to play with any sort of agression. He looked like a high school kid trying to play like everyone else was still in high school. Ian if you are looking to leave how about BYUH? They have a great school, awesome location and they would take you in a heart beat. You are probably not even thinking NBA so why not? You would start immediately (most likely) and you would probably make the tourney at least once while you are there. Plus no sitting out a year.

I thought he had back issues at the time he stopped playing.

Maybe it is/was a medical thing.

But, there are easily two better than him next year--Mika and Worthington. Even if there were no other problems as listed by others, he has to feel a loss of confidence by coaches and recognize that two very mobile and scoring threats are headed this way--he is neither of those two things.

Rose more than just hinted that a couple or more players would be gone in the off-season. It appears that Ian and Delgado are both leaving. Who knows - there could be more to come.

This is good. Harward is a wasted scholarship. He was worthless on the floor. My feeling is if a freshman comes in and can't compete, or if by his Sophomore he still can't compete, then cut him, he's never going to do anything.



The missing piece with BYU basketball is a post player who can play. Davies barely did it, I'm not sure Austin will cut it either, but maybe. Mika will be a player, but if he goes on a mission after freshman year, Rose better have somebody in the wings who can play. I love all guard teams, it's the best basketball in the world, but you gotta have rebounders and the ability to go inside too.

Let's see. Davies, with a decent supporting cast, was MVP in a post-season tournament, all WCC, and you think he barely did it?

Anyone complaining about Davies' play, please name a better BYU post player in the last 10 years. Trent? Davies would have Trent spinning and beat Trent down the court every time. Noah? Nope. Davies would dominate Noah down low and again beat Noah down the court every time.Chris Miles? I won't even bother. Rafa? Maybe. Rafa would over power Davies. But Davies post moves and pump fakes would get Rafa leaving his feet all over, and no way Rafa beats Davies down the court.

He had a great career. Could it have been better? Probably, but it was still a great career.

Great stats Spiff. Really solid career for Davies. I think Jimmer raised the the bar so high for a stellar season/career, that Davies' may not seem as good as It statistically was.

Now I've seen Ian Harward, and sure he's in shape, but "cut?" Nah.
