Was it QB Ryan Hancock that made this choice and joined the California Angels? He won his first 3 or 4 starts and then disappeared.



I asked Bill Bavasi - Angel's GM at the time - what happened. He said "short arm".



Did McKay Christensen also have to make a football vs baseball decision? Forgot how that turned out.



Normally, I call it a mistake to leave college early. If he truly is a high draft BB prospect and not an NFL prospect - baseball is a different deal. Take the baseball contract.

Don't you have to stay 3 years in college before you can leave for MLB, if you don't go right away?

Or one year and two year mission?

I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad about this. I hope Spiffs theory is right that he has to stay 3 years from a very selfish part of me.

I'm not sure what "regain eligibility" means? Does that mean the aren't eligible to be drafted for three years if they were drafted previously?



Additionally,

A college player at a four year school is eligible for the draft after they are done with at least three years of school. They must either compete up to their junior year or be twenty one years of age to enter the First-Year Players Draft.

Was Hannemann drafted previously?



Further research: He was in 2010. But it looks like he is already 21, so he must have served a mission already? For some reason, I was thinking he just graduated last year.

I acturally think I remember him being drafted way back when.

Was drafted like 41st round. Turned it down to serve a mission even though they offered pretty good money (like a 10th round pick). I think it was TB. Should go much higher this time.

Hannemann has either already signed or at least reached an agreement with the Cubs and will receive a $1M bonus. Nice!! Way to go!
