Glad to hear it. Obviously, being one of the top seniors in the country isn't what it used to be, but it's still impressive.



When Davies is on his game, he's one of the best at filling out the stat sheet. Wish I could watch these games.

There may be a sport of Davies in the Association. Teams could use a low-post scorer for a second unit. He'll need to get stronger and rebound better. But he might be able to fill a role.

I could see him being a serviceable 4 in certain situations.

My feelings last year were that he'd have to develop his offensive game outside of the low post. Seems like he did improve his jump shot a bit. Problem is, his size and athleticism just won't cut it for a pure post player in the NBA. He doesn't "play about the rim" like an NBA big man needs to.



I can still see him making a roster, getting a couple minutes here and there when the coach wants to go small. He runs the floor really well and, like I said before, can really fill out a stat sheet with assists, blocks, steals etc.



Maybe Europe would be a better option? Is being a starter in Europe better than a bench warmer in the NBA? I have no idea.

If he could develop the 3 point shot, he has a shot. He just didn't take enough of them at the Y. Maybe he would have been better than our guards. Who knows.

Davies never developed a jumper or a fadeaway move. How does this happen when you play ball your whole life and through a D1 college? I just don't get it.

Davies is inbetween a 4 and 5.



IMO Davies best NBA skills are:



-charge taking-

-running the floor



I don't know if his post scoring or rebounding will translate with him getting stronger.



If gets stronger and focuses on rebounding and defense, then I can seem him having a chance.



Realistically I think Davies is looking at a summer league spot with a team with an outside change of making the team. He will probably be heading to Europe.

Davies is better than Plaisted. If Plaisted can get drafted I see no reason why Davies shouldn't.



Now, whether Davies can make a living in the NBA is another question.

Davies has outstanding inside post moves - many of which were featured on ESPN highlights - especially the fake passes and up and around moves. He can be a very effective scorer playing within his game as he has a very explosive first step. The challenge for him was staying out of foul trouble (that should ease up in the NBA) and learning how to deal/pass out of high pressure double teams. Yes, he will need to develop an outside shot - when moved to the 4. But Davies has impressed at every camp that he has attended so that is saying something about his skill set.

Perhaps the most likely of any PIT participant to get drafted in Saturday's championship game, Davies has looked every bit the part of an NBA player thus far

This is a nice compliment to Davies given the disdain spewed at him from a small few BYU fans especially the one that said he wished Davies had not come back to BYU after his suspension and more than once suggested that he should be benched for poor play.



The intetesting comment in the link provided was that BYU put too much responsibility on Davies and that now that he has a supporting cast of talented players, he is very comfortable and productive.



That was the problem for BYU - a lack of talent outside of Davies and Haws until late in the season when Carlino showed up.

In two games at the Portsmouth Invitational, Davies is averaging 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals while shooting .652 from the field. Ten of the 20 rebounds collected by Davies have been on the offensive end.



Including the Reese’s All-Star game and the Portsmouth Invitational, Davies’ three-game averages are 17.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals.

Earlier today, NBA Draft expert Chad Ford of ESPN.com highlighted players to watch at the 2013 Portsmouth Invitational. Here is some of what Ford had to say



"Davies is both a good athlete and has more skill than you might think at first glance. He has a solid face-the-basket game and a pretty high basketball IQ ... He was one of the few guys NBA scouts seemed excited about after the first two days of the event."
