Rose V. Rice

We now have a full data set (2012-13 Season) by which to judge these two great coaches. Who do you think did the most with what they had this season, Coach Rose or Coach Rice? Please expain

I'm biased, but still think Rose is the clear favorite. He dealt with the loss of 2-3 expected starters, late in the summer and did ok trying to fill the gaps. The NIT run showed he is able to coach and get the effort and production from his team.



Rice had the potential to have an elite team this year. Probably lottery pick player with other potential NBA talent. He kind of lost his team mid season and wasn't able to right the ship. Looks like his next star, Moser, may be transferring to Washington. Team discord probably sunk his ship more than anything, but as coach, ts his job to get the team playing as a team.

Are we talking about Dave Rice or Mike Rice, because one of these is a very easy answer.

Close call. They both had their big ups and their big downs through the course of the year, but when one ends on an up and one ends on a down, even though really a NIT final 4 loss is basically the equivalent of a first round NCAA loss, you still have to give it to the positive finish so I'll go with Rose.



Plus, he's a Cougar and no matter how much I like other players or coaches being a cougar trumps all other things.

One had a very satisfying finish to the season and the other completely flamed out.

I should have been more specific, yes Dave Rice. Didn't think it would be necessary, but youre right, Mike Rice has been in the news a lot more than the other two lately.

I would take either one and consider BYU lucky with either.

Took Rose too long to figure out his best rotation. Rice hardly flamed out since UNLV always chokes in THe Big Dance.

I would take either coach as well. I remember throughout the season comments were made that Rice was the real heart and soul of the Rose coaching staff and we wouldn't be able to function without him. Maybe part of this season was a result of learning to coach/play without Rice. I still think the early losses of Rogers and Collinsworth without time to fill Those spots was the weak link of the season rather than one coach or the other. Would have been nice had one of the transfer/other guys stepped up and performed.
