Closed to the public, but I'm guessing twitter will be a-flurry.

Ziggy and Braden Hansen obviously headline--who else is participating?

O'Neill Chambers will be there, turning heads of pro scouts.

Really? OC will be there? I wish him well. I hope he does well.

How can this be? I thought BYU was a racist institution that brought in token African-American athletes just so they could kick them out of school and make an example of them to all their lily, white students. And once BYU kicked them to the curb, they turned a cold shoulder to them and dusted off their feet.

He must have some pictures of Tom Holmoe at Mi Ranchito.

O'neal chambers is understandable, but what about Joe Sampson? Wasn't he one of the main Rancheritos?

Ziggy didn't do any timed/metric workouts--all position work.

I don't blame him for the choice, and I understand why he didn't announce it ahead of time (to keep scouts intrigued and maximize attention for his brothers who would be trying to ride his coattails into the NFL's awareness), but I sure could have done without the disappointment of waiting on pins and needles to see how much faster he would run his 40.

How I felt reading the tweets that no Ziggy 40 time would be forthcoming:

I thought I remembered reading an article that stated that Ziggy could probably run a faster 40 at the pro day than at the combine, so I was surprised by this. I wonder if in practicing he hasn't consistently matched/beat his combine time.

Ogletree ran a 4.62 40 time... and the average 40 time for linebackers at the combine was 4.74. I thought Ogletree wasn't athletic!

My guess is he has a smart agent who said "Dude, you're a lock for the top-7 unless you mess up. Nobody expects a lot out of the position drills, but everyone expects you to wow on the metrics, so the only place you can really hurt yourself at this point is in the metrics. You already blew them away, so lets focus on position drills where there's a lot more room for improvement/turning heads."

That's the advice I would have given. Incrementally he had very little to gain by running a bit faster, jumping a titch higher, or squeezing out a few more reps. If something went wrong on those, it would have cast a pall on what he did already at the combine....which number is real? Too much risk for too little reward, plus he was able to reserve his energy for the position drills.

I understand it, and I understand not announcing ahead of time, but man I was let down when we found out after lunch.

And Utah players ran sub 4.2 40's at their pro day. Hand timing making everyone faster.

I am really impressed by the numbers being put up by BYU's seniors on defense - especially our LBs and DBs. D. Everett had some great numbers - curious as to why he didn't get more playing time on the field.

Ogletree: 4.62/40; 24 reps/bench; 33-inch vertical

Kaveinga: 4.65/40; 26 reps/bench; 33.5 vertical

Hadley: 4.53/40; 19 reps/bench; 35 vertical;10-foot-2 broad jump; 4.00/20-yard shuttle; 11.33/60-yard shuttle.

Sampson: 4.53/40; 25 reps/bench; 36 vertical;10-foot-4 broad jump

Everett: 4.57/40; 26 reps/bench; 37.5 vertical; 11-foot-1 broad jump

Hansen: 27 reps/bench

Fuga: 5.13/40; 26 reps/bench;

Everett is the shocker to me. Dude is an athlete. I wish we'd tried him out at safety. He's a big kid with good speed.

The things that come to mind as to why Everett may not have played as much as we thought he would might be related to position mastery/understanding, footwork and cover skills. He appears to have the athletic ability but perhaps not enough to overcome aptitude for the game.
