BYU may have wasted away a better season waiting for the tide. 2nd half vs UW. All night vs Mercer.

Can he do it on the road as an underdog?

Carlino nipping at his potential. Haws looking good - as usual. Davies lifted. Zylstra lifted. Austin solid.

That is about all we seem to have - but they are energized and producing.

If Carlino had played like this all season, BYU would be in the NCAA tourney and may still be playing.

Leaky boats yes. Sunken boats no. Sunken boats just get washed onto the beach aka bench. Lukily BYU had enough good boats and leaky boats to get er done - barely enough.

Anyone know the status of leaky boat Sharp? That boat could be lifted unless it has already sunk.

If Carlino and the team had played like this all season they'd undoubtetly have beaten Gonzaga and St. Mary's at least once apiece and maybe lost one other game on an off night. They may have won the wcc tournament and having played a tougher opponent, the Zaggs and St. Marys might have also done better in the tournament.

Carlino is the key. BYU was easy to stop this year because we only had 2 guys that consistently played decent. Carlino makes the whole offense better when he is this good because it makes our offense really hard to stop when you have 3 guys filling it up.

Carlino averaging 19 pts, 9 assists and 6.5 rebounds in the NIT! He has been a lot of fun to watch and it's easy to see how his play effects the whole team.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

If we had been running, he would have been playing like this.

It was a sign. A very good sign.

I think to an extent BYU is benefitting from playing teams and coaches that haven't played BYU and aren't familiar with what Rose tries to do and run.

The WCC knows what BYU wants to do and so they don't let them. Rose is also proving to be very good coach. He's quickly scouting teams and finding ways to attack them and exploit their weaknesses.

Maybe. But Mercer had a ton of time to prepare.

Baylor will test this theory. They already played us once and shut everyone and everything but Davies down. They have a week to rest and prepare.

Another fun game to watch.

Maybe. BUT it helps that BYU is hitting shots. That makes any coach look good.

Yep. This is Baylor's third game against BYU in the last 15 months. BYU is 0-2. They got killed in one game on the road and lost a closely contested one at home. It'll be interesting to see how Rose gets his team ready on a neutral court - maybe a slight fan advantage to BYU? - for the rubber match. Does he change things up?
