2012-13 Bronson Kaufusi - Regular Season Grades

It's time to hand out grades for the players of the 2012-2013 basketball team.

This poll is for Bronson Kaufusi.



For the season, Kaufusi had 103 minutes, 8 of 13 Field Goals, 3 of 11 free throws, 19 points. 13 offensive rebounds, 15 defensive rebounds, 2 assist, 3 turnovers, 5 steals and 3 blocks.

Can't shoot. Was actually a poor rebounder once he started getting regular minutes. Clumsy. Not sure he brought anything we weren't already getting from Haward - which wasn't much

I LOVED watching him play. He physically dwarfed most everyone else and was like the schoolyard bully in the paint. My favorite was going to Gonzaga's forum after their game in Provo. They HATED Kaufusi.



He should probably focus just on football going forward. He may have a future there, but I have to admit, I got a big smile every time he came on the court. That's worth an 'A' to me.

I like that he plays like a defensive lineman. I almost wish he did more. But I have to agree that he should focus on football if we have anyone else to fill the empty big man spots.

Football is not basketball and the fact Kaufusi played basketball like a lineman is not a good thing. He was a technical fould waiting to happen. Fouling is one thing. Standing over your opponent and jeering at them is another. There should be no celebrating after fouls. Fouls cost us.



I hope the Kaufusi experiment is over. He's a fish out of water on the court. Can't rebound. Can't shoot. I highly doubt he'll be working on his basketball game over the summer.

I enjoyed watching him, but like Gunk says, it didn't work and time to move on.

C- He played bball like a DE. Fun stuff. This team was a circus act all year and Kaufusi was like the elephant balancing on a ball. Entertaining but it doesn't really do anything for you.

I said I almost wish he played more like a lineman, but that is only because I enjoyed seeing bodies fly. Not because I think it's good for the team.

What is up with up You blokes? It doesn't take a fricken PhD to figure out he's a Dlinemen or an elephant a ball. Was he optimal? Not even close. Do you honestly think BYU was better without him? BYU was getting killed at the four and inside ( part of Davies foul problems). II like Sharp, but I was sick of the pathetic skinny white kids getting kicked around like little geeks. No doubt he was a gap filler. Thats not his fault. And maybe Rose hoped he would pan out better. But rather than get another dopey JC guy, he went after Smash Kaufusi. It was a circus. It was a fight club. And who hated when he knocked down that Aussie on SMC? I didn't. Poetic justice for all the pushing around that Tyler was getting game in and game out.

This is a hard one.



I would rather watch Kaufusi "Hulk Smash" someone driving into the lane than watch Nate Austin get backed down in the paint until he is sitting in the front row's laps.



A solid B for effort. Every good team needs an enforcer. A "not in my house" player. We didn't have that before he came. Judging him solely on that role, I give him a B. He had 5 fouls to give, and he made people earn it. I would rather see him accidentally clobber someone breaking into the lane than Davies or Austin NEVER leave their feet to contest a shot, opting to try and act like near 7 foot dominoes.
