U of U sex abuse scandal

It looks like the Utes may have their own Jerry Scandusky / Joe Paternoster scandal.

This one looks pretty bad. Big time coverup by the school's AD.

Dayumn! The swimming coach Greg Wilson sounds like a twisted jack ass! What a pile. The Utah athletic dept. really blew it - and is guilty of dereliction of their oversight duty and the welfare of the students. I hope they get skewered over this coach's actions, and their inaction.

The NCAA made an example out of Penn state. Does anyone think they will have the nads to throw the book at utah?

When you sign up to be an athlete at u of u you are expected to live a certain standard. It's just a lot different than the standard BYU lives. (end sarcastic comment that drives ute fans crazy).



In all seriousness I hope this guy and the AD gets hit HARD. It sounds like he could have seriously messed up some kids lives and showed complete disregard for the trust placed in a person of his position. u of u is lucky that they didn't have a funeral on their hands.

Add this to the fishy stuff going on with U football players and roids, and you're getting a recipe for lack of institutional control (or whatever it's called). I wonder what else they'll find if they investigate.

Revolting and shameful and that is only with regards to how the U has handled this matter. As for the coach.....how do people become so inhuman?

Not even in the same galaxy as Sandusky. This is a coach for the most part being an ass. With a little underage sex on the side. But being such an ass to that many kids makes you wonder why the athletic dept was protecting him

How much of a "little under age sex on the side"is a university supposed to tolerate?



Dr Hill should be placed on administrative leave first thing Monday morning. Same with the coach until they figure this out.



Further, the governor should appoint an independent council to investigate the entire athletic department. These are state employees who have been paid by tax payers and abused their positions to possibly abuse -physically, emotionally and sexually - students and citizens and children of our state.

NCAA is going to slap them on the wrist, take away scholarships and postseason participation, and that will be it. It's a swimming team, not a football team, so the NCAA won't have the public momentum behind them to do much more. At the very worst, the U gets a fine of about $500K and loses the swimming team. About 300 people in the state of Utah care about this.

The sad and unfortunate truth. The reason this wasn't a story in the first place is because it is swimming. The only thing that brings it to light now is the words "underage, student and sex" being put together in a complete sentence.



All a football or basketball player has to do is say "my coach is abusing us" and INSTANTLY the NCAA is in there with investigations and procedures and etc etc.



Further proof that the NCAA is just about the money, and couldn't care less about the actual students (as if anyone needed any more proof at this point.)

Yes there are apparently fewer victims in this case but any underage sex is sexual abuse and if the school knew about it, and the other abuses and covered it up then it's a terrible thing.

So raping underage girls is more acceptable to you than raping underage boys? Even if the sex was "consensual" since she was 15, it is counted as rape since she is too young to make that decision with an adult man. This is every bit as dirty as the sandusky mess. Coach raped at least 1 15 year old girl, physically and mentally abused his players and the athletic dept covered it up. How is that different.

Even if the sex was "consensual" since she was 15, it is counted as rape since she is too young to make that decision with an adult man. This is every bit as dirty as the sandusky mess. I was not being clear. It appears that there was one sexual abuse victim.Sandusky had many. None are tolerable, but calling a one victim episode Sandusky is like calling a home invasion murder the haulocost. Both are deplorable but they are not equal

From what I hear this is why he was let go at ASU before going to the U. No due diligence on the part of the U AD.

Usually when there is one case of sexual abuse there are more unreported cases that will come to light.
