SchmoeNot hard to imagine; the transition from 17-year-old on up is the change from boy to man. If he has gotten bigger, it's something to get excited about as he already played much bigger than he is (lowering his shoulder and shucking tacklers).
G
GuestAnd he's only 17 years old!!! Sorry, all the ESPN broadcasters got that message stuck in my head...
C
Cougs_RuleCareful. You guys are inflating expectations on this young man. ;) Jk.
It is exciting and players have commented that off-season workouts were more rigorous this year than previous years! Isn't he 18 yet?
Regardless, he and the fastest player on the team, THill, will be a formidable combo, ala Doman and Staley--notwithstanding I want Domans running man routine eradicated. There still can be a constant threat for THill to take off even though called QB runs are NOT called. And if THill can pass, which he will have to start, short of mistakes from inexperience, TE reinstalled, Oline firing "hard and fast", I still think this can be an explosive offense.

Cougs_RuleMaybe he is crackin baby roids??? Dude is ripped.

beauso79I sure wish JW and Adam Hine could turn into a monster tandem at RB. I'd like to see us use our RB's like Alabama does so they don't get worn done by the end of the season

As soon as we recruit 5 or 6 Bama-esque linemen it's a done deal! :)
M
MarsBut is he slower too?
This is one kid that I seriously don't want to be "Jay Omer-ized"!
C
Cougs_RuleOnly slow white guys, when they get bigger, get slower. :-)

DdawgI'm not surprised he's getting bigger. Jamal is finally old enough to get a Driver's License.
Thank heaven!!! ;)
Thank heaven!!! ;)
T
tmoney35Just saw the above picture on a post from deepshadesofblue:
Obviously not perfectly comparable, but still, it looks to be a pretty impressive change from this year to last.
B
beauso79As long as the increased mass doesn't slow him down. Hopefully the increased strength makes him more explosive
M
MarsSays he gained 10 pounds. Up to 205 now.
C
Cougs_RuleIirc, that was Jamal Wlliis' playing weight. Maybe 210. That ought to do it! H will just get better and better. TH and JW have such the potential to be very explosive, especially if the passing game is humming. If BYU had the speed on the outside (WRs) to match, we could be, with this hurry up scheme, our own little Oregon, minus all the ah table stuff about the quacks.

GuestThe offseason is the best time for these guys to bulk up, I've read somewhere that football players lose a large amount of their muscle mass over the course of the season due to the intense, physical nature of the game.

That's funny. I'm the opposite. Might have something to do with Gameday bbqs, Cougartails, and medicating myself with food after losses. The physical nature of being a fan, I guess. :-)

There is a big difference when the football players BURN 6,000+ calories during a game and we as fans CONSUME 6,000+ calories during a game!

Come football season, someone needs to start a poll for how many calories each CC poster was able to consume week to week. I'm pretty sure I could gain at least 3-5 pounds a week if I "work" hard enough at it. LES may have cougar tails and bbq and other stuff, but I wish they had more fried food and turkey drumsticks like other stadiums. That would really help the cause. Working at an office job helps a lot too, but is it enough?
G
GuestSpeaking of BBQ at the stadium, I recommend everyone stop by and get a BBQ sandwich from 5 Star BBQ Booth in the North West corner of the stadium (at least that's where they were last year). It has pulled pork and beef brisket mixed together in a perfect blend of BBQ sauce and is absolutely delicious.
