So, it appears that there is something bad enough to get a player dismissed from the :utard: squad:



"While [his wife] was in the bathroom, the 6-foot 4-inch, 278-pound man hit her in the head with a curling iron, then wrapped the iron's cords around his hands and tried to strangle her, the charging documents state. He then allegedly ripped a towel bar from the wall, hit her in the head with it and tried to stab her in the throat with the broken end.



Leota also "attempted to fill the bathtub with water to electrocute the victim with the curling iron," a Salt Lake County Jail report states."



It amazes me just how awful human beings can be.

Completely justifiable. I bet she asked him to get off the couch and do something besides play X-box. Anyone would snap. :bug:

You described the 2nd half pretty well other than threatening to kill her in front of their 2-year old. Then in OT, friends arrivex with their other two childrwn and his wife ran and locked herself in rhe car where he threatened to kill her and fly to Hawaii to kill her family - this in front of the 3 kids, friends, and a police officer.



In the first half, he beat her with his fist and sent her to the bathroom to clean off the blood. Your recap picked up from that point.



Totally Out of Control.

Horrible story. This action can't be associated with the U. These guys are bad people. The U, in my opinion, has little to do with it. hopefully he is severely punished.

Thanks for this comment. We all know that there has been player behavior at the Y in the past that certainly should not reflect on the University. The same should be recognized here. People are responsible for their own actions.



If, on the other hand, it was discovered that he was taking steroids at the insistance of the coaching staff, my opinion would change radically.

Dude was already suspended (thought the story didn't say why) from the football team--but this got him dismissed all together. He'll surely be doing jail time on this one. Hopefully his wife will take the necessary steps to protect her and her children from him going forward.



Utah has had some issues this offseason--but at least they are dealing with the bad apples.

My daughter prosecutes these kind of cases and a sad truth is that in the majority of the cases she sees, the victim takes the abuser back and tries to drop the charges. Her office does not drop the charges, generally, but then witnesses like the victim, friends and relatives of the victim, particularly, get amnesia.



But my daughter just won one like that because other evidence and witnesses made it clear what happened and whose story had changed.

It happens all the time. They (the victims) love the beater, and think that they can change him. Often times, the financial hit on the family is huge, and they have to go through bankruptcy. Often times the family will go without so the beater can pay for legal representation, and will go without so beater can pay the court costs and fines and fees. It's a brutal segment of society....

As I posted, and for these kind of reasons and criminal record impact on employment potential, the victim who had been hit with a belt buckle and chased down a busy street and had to baracade and seek refuge in a cafe, reversed story, claimed to have been accidentally struck, and was just running because she was mad. She had taken him back in and wanted the charges dropped. She was mad at the DA for not dropping the case.



This ended up as a misdemeanor and if the perpetrator learned his lesson - not usually the case - misdemeanors do not usually need to be disclosed on employment applications.
