If Mika, Emery, or Haws joined the team tomorrow, starters?

Do you think Dave Rose would start any of the big 3 for Lone Peak, if they joined the team tonight, over any of his own players at the respective positions?

None. The better questions are--



Would Mika start along side Davies? YES.

Would Emery start along side Carlino? YES. Unless Tyler Got moved to the 2. But he wouldn't bc there would still be no other good 3. There's Tyler and then nobody.



Would TJ start? No. Would he get time off the bench? Probably. Bc he might be the best 3-point shooter other than Emery, if he was thrown in the mix.



BYU would be in contention for the WCC, with--



5-Davies, Austin

4-Mika, Kaufusi, Sharp

3- Tyler, TJ/ Zylstra,

2-Carlino, winder,

1-Emery, Cusick



Mika would be a huge upgrade right now.

In other words, Emery would start over Carlino because he, Emery, is a better PG? Just taking a moment and discussing position by position now, not the rest of the lineup or rotation.

Yes they would but they would replace our subpar players not the ones who actually can be productive. Bench Zylstra and Cusick and rotate in the 3 LP boys.

It's got some holes, but yes. Carlino can still distribute, but I think he is better as a shooter coming off screens and sets rather than pulling up off the dribble. But I think they could pose a synergistic threat in the sense that defenders couldn't cheat and both would be great scoring the rock.



On the other hand, maybe Emery would be too new and better as a scorer, so the 2 and Carilino at point. But it would be a track meet with both as threats and Tyler.

Mine too. Emery and Mika would start, because they are better than Cusick/Zylstra and Austin/Sharp/Harward.



It would be:



Carlino

Emery

Haws

Davies

and Mika at center



With this lineup we could probably go man defense against the majority of the WCC. Yes, Cusick/Zylstra and Austin/whoever else are that bad...





And we would be INSTANTLY better. If KC was back this year and healthy he would be starting either at SG or PF. We don't have a good, well-rounded player at either position.

With the above lineup I mentioned, we could probably go man defense against for a full 40 mins against the majority of the teams we play. An upgrade at those 2 spots defensively gives us at least 3 or 4 more wins this year. Not only can Cusick/Zylstra/Austin/Sharp, etc not play man, but half those guys can't even play a good zone defense, which should be easier.
