Michigan State is in a Bind - Is Doman the Answer?

Michigan State just lost their OC who took the RB Coach position with New Orleans Saints. Spring training is upon them and they need an OC. This spot is Big Time enough to capture the heart of most candidates and possibly raise the hair on the back of his neck.

Will they call Doman? If they do not, nobody like them will call next year when candidates are aplenty either. If they do not call, I believe Doman should take what he can get and fight his way back to the top.

Maybe he could get the QB position if they promote theirs to OC. Or be a co-OC.

That would be a great opportunity for Doman to get back in the saddle.

I guess UTEP is in a pinch for a wide receiver coach. Cahoon?

Michigan State will just promote from within for the OC position--the guy that's leaving was promoted to the OC position 2 years ago. If they promote the QB coach, Doman could get a shot at that position.

UTEP had a WR coach long before BYU did. Holliday was no longer coaching at UTEP. He was let go at the end of the 2012 season, and until BYU called, he was unemployed.

As for Doman, not a snowball's chance he gets on at MSU. Given his recent resume, he will be looking non-BCS, possibly JC or FCS for his next stint, and it won't be as an OC or co-OC unless its a Virgin-Sisters of the Poor type institution.

The BIOs are often shined up pretty good. What happened at UTEP? Clean sweep under a new HC or OC or was he just the one coach perceived to be a problem? Awkward for his son who is still playing at UTEP.

Yeah, Michigan State is looking for BYU castoffs... especially ones that oversaw some of the worst offensive output that BYU has produced in 100 years.

Thread FAIL.

Maybe the Tenessee Titans are looking for an OC, and would he be a fit? Start a thread about that, while you are at it.

Sheesh...

Mike Price retired after last season, and the new coach brought in his own OC and WR coaches, so Holliday was not brought back. Consider him "UTEP's Ben Cahoon."

If you actually read the posts - OP and subsequent - you would realize that I do not expect Doman to get a call from MSU or anyone like them for an OC slot. Not even now even though they are in a bind. I think Doman needs to take a lesser position and work his way back up. Unfortunately, sometimes severance agreements are only paid if you remain unemployed and it may cost Doman a lot of money to take that lesser job.
