Big East Set To Announce NBC Deal That Pays $20M

Unfortunately - that is not per team. If they ever get to 12 teams and keep 12 teams that is under $2M per team. How far the mighty have fallen with the loss of BYU, BSU, SDSU, AFA, Catholic 7, Big 10, ACC, and Big 12 defections, not to mention the 8th Catholic - ND.



Look for the announcement in about two weeks.



The great divide between the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS in D1 football is about to move way to the left as consolidation continues.

We will never know how much positive would have come if BYU had joined and AFA, BSU, and SDSU had followed. That would not have kept teams from leaving for Big 10, ACC, or Big 12, though. Not sure how Catholic 7 or ND would have reacted. Best case, Big East was at most a stepping stone conference. But when Western schools declined to join and help prop up football revenues, the free ride for basketball schools ended and thus any incentive to stay was greatly diminished.



The MWC has clearly become the 6th best positioned conference and may remain that way unless Big 12 or PAC come poaching. ACC is very vulnerable to Big 10, SEC, or Big 12. If desparation sets in with ACC leftovers, Beast will lose even more and or ACC might be forced into some crazy East West gambke.
