Big 10 Going to a 9 or 10 Conference Game Schedule

Big 10 claims - even after backing off last time they said they were going to 9 - that anything less than 9 is off the table. They feel it will bind their growing conference together.



This may explain Michigan ending their ND series. It may mean that schools dumb enough to give them 2 for 1 with the 1 coming later, may never see the 1. Some fans think all conferences are headed this way - which will squeeze ND and BYU into joining a conference. I think SEC likes their cupcake too much to do that - but if they miss out on playoffs because someone else played a tougher schedule that would change.



With PAC saying no to OOC after September and Big 10 cutting to 2 OOC or 3 at most, and wanting home games for OOC - this will not be good for BYU Independence.

I'm just glad that the Big Ten is apparently finished playing FCS teams. I wish BYU would follow the example of Notre Dame and impose the same policy.

The NCAA should establish that policy. Are you sure Big 10 will stop. They will be wanting all home games OOC. I expect to see them playing a lot of 1 and done and possibly 2 for 1 just like The SEC. They, too, will fatten up on OOC across the league, and claim there conference schedule is as tough as SEC.

I did notice an article yesterday indicating that Big 10 is making this "No FCS Games" into policy. Not clear if it will be written rule or just an understanding amongst the ADs.

Looks like the ACC may be going to a 9-game conference schedule as well. I was hoping the ACC would hold out with the ND deal.

It is not a big deal. We do not play Big 10 teams very often. We have several series against the conference that originally started playing a 9 game conference schedule, the Pac-12. The ACC has a history of playing strong OOC schedules so I expect our games against those teams to continue.

Yeah it is no big deal. Two more major conferences have reduced the number of OOC games 25%.



Sit back and wait for them to now refuse to schedule them after September 21.

Well, at least the Sept 21 thing won't apply - ND has five games scheduled later in the year so there's that at least. They have 14 teams and I wouldn't want to schedule more than 2-3 per year anyway. We'll see.
