BYU is not different

When Mendenhall gets up in front of the blue hairs next month and announces the new signees, I guarantee you he will say some form of "BYU is just a different place." It's really not for football coaches. Three coordinators fired in the last three years (one mid-season), other coaches being forced out, players being forced out, etc. BYU, as a football program, is no different than any other school out there, even if football is 5th.

What, you expected BYU to be a place where you can suck at your job and still have job security?



Also, your facts are wrong--only two coordinators were fired or demoted: Doman and Hill. Anae left of his own volition. We don't know for certain yet whether Doman has been fired or merely demoted.

WAAHHH - BYU doesn't treat their football program like other schools!

WAAAHH - BYU now has the money, partly from real boosters, not just fan boosters, who are contributing to a coaches fund that helps pay these much more competitive salaries. ;-) just playin with ya Hawk.

Hey, you were right about Doman. I was wrong. And power-grabbing big donors are a sad reality that has finally crept its way into BYU sports. The BoT are still in ultimate control, but still. Although, ESPN money and implied mandates to perform probably effect some of these coaching changes far more than the big donors perceive themselves to be the "change agents."

I don't get this thread. Our offense has sucked for 3 seasons, which is pretty much unprecedented in the last 20 years of BYU history. There are consequences to this.
