DuPaix Confirms He's Gone

With everything moving, it was fairly obvious DuPaix was the odd man out, so this isn't a surprise.



Just waiting for confirmation of Cahoon's departure and the announcement of new hires before I pass judgment.

Looking at what DuPaix is retweeting and stating he "agrees" with on twitter, I don't think he's very happy about this. Bitter would be closer to the mark.



Can't say I blame him though.

Robert Anae is going to take some major heat in letting both Cahoon and DuPaix go. Tom Holmoe sounded last night that he expected that it could be as soon as today that it could be announced in which direction the coaching staff was going. I hope they understand that keeping fans in the dark is not an ideal situation in regards to coaches

Only if his replacements don't produce. From the outside looking it, it looked like Cahoon did a good job. From the outside looking in (IMO), Dupaix was not doing a good job teaching his RB's how to block. He was the running game coordinator and our running game has sucked with him. It may be premature letting these guys go, just like my argument that it is premature letting Doman go as OC, but with a new boss, changes are made.

I can't evaluate coaches as far as who's resonsible for what but it seems like there's was pretty universal agreement that our O-Line stunk. Maybe the running game had it's own problems and the passing game had it's own problems but I'd really like to see what our would have looked up with the only change being a change to the O-Line. My observations were that we could have had Steve Young and Harvey Unga back there the last two years and they wouldn't have been able to produce.

Well, Anaes running game >>> Domans running game. With fewer injuries to the QB. Dupaix is an option guy like Doman, like his dad, like Bingham HS. Who knows. I'm still entertaining the idea that was told to me that Anae got to pick his entire staff (like other universities do) --conditional to him accepting the job and that there would be no BYU admin dictating who would get to stay and who would go.

Come to think of it, I guess both of these guys were kind of Doman's guys, right? I don't know for sure.

Sucks - sounds like he was instrumental in landing Jamaal Williams. Hopefully Mark Atuaia is ready to recruit otherwise we won't be able to labd guys Williams. To even have a shot at LA RB Sione Palelei we have to have one heck of a recruiter to sell the program to him. Mark better be ready

With Mark and Anae and Anaes record of successful RB's (Curtis and Harvey) I would think BYUs chances of getting this Poly kid improved considerably with Anae back. If not for his Poly-ness, certainly his rep with busting the chops of Olinemen to block for their RBs.

I would also think he knows all too well that Wlliams has the capacity/speed to be a top BYU RB like Harvey and Curtis. I am sure he met with JW just as he met with THill and assured them of his style and his record with both RBs and QBs.

DuPaix's dad coached at Skyline. Doman played for him.



Bingham's coach is Dave Peck, father of Remington Peck. He'd be a great addition to the staff as well. has shown he can develop and coach up talent locally.

Both guys seemed like great coaches, great men, and great recruiters. Cahoon helped Hoffman produce his whopping numbers, and developed unknowns like Ridley into decent threats. The dropsy-issues of the Higgins/Anae era largely disappeared under him. And the 2013 WR class (Tanner Shipley, Michael Davis, Talon Shumway, Inoke Lotulelei, Garrett England, Faimafili Moroni Laulu-Pututau) was one of BYU's best ever.



DuPaix helped recruit Jamaal Williams, and was helping him because a threat to be BYU's all-time rusher. This, behind an absolutely TERRIBLE offensive line with a bad offensive coordinator making the play-calls. He was also a stud recruiter and a positive voice on twitter as well, a high-energy guy.



We will see if BYU loses more recruits now. And if the offense is worse next year.



With all that Doman has cost BYU (wins, coaches, etc.) there's no way he should be allowed to remain on staff. If you're Anae and you left BYU because of coaching disagreements and you want to clean house, than go ahead and clean the ENTIRE house.



QB/WR/TE coaches yet to be named. Steve Clark, Paul Peterson, Max Hall have interviewed. Names like Ty Detmer (bad idea), JaBeck, and Chad Lewis will be tossed around until official announcements as well.

Wow. Interesting. Chad Lewis is not going to full time coaching. He is way way to valuable where he is at with Development. Plus, BYU really does get a two-fer with Chad, because he works with the TEs at times and is a great influence on the sideline during the game.

Paul Peterson? Really? Wow. Nice kid from Colorado, but would prefer MadMax. Love his fire and he was an Anae guy.

Besides Hill in the last five years, when have you seen Bronco up and dump two coaches he hired when there was no known issue to them doing a poor job?



RA just turned the heat up and if he doesn't perform with whomever he puts into place, then there is, and rightfully so, hell to be paid.



Not many people happy with this turn of events as all coaches involved were liked.

You really have to ask about the timing of this too with our one "big" recruiting weekend coming up. I guess it's better to do it before this weekend so those coming in can see how they feel about the new offensive coaching staff.

Let's admit it though--everyone knew DuPaix was out as soon as the Atuaia hire as the RB coach became known.

Dupaix's father is a legendary high school coach at Skyline High School - at about 39th South in the foothills just below Wasatch Blvd. My wife went there. Doman and of Course Dupaix played for Dupaix senior at Skyline. It was a very successful option attack.



What was that movie - Remember The Titans - Works like Novacaine if you run it over and over and over.



Those are your running man QB and RB roots.



I do not know where Cahoon played high school ball or how tight he was with Doman. Skyline has provided BYU with many Doman brothers over the years.

Mars you made some good points about cahoon. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay. there has been nothing official yet. the wr recruiting class is the highlight of this whole class. iti s the only position recruited that stands out as being superior.

1- DuPaix was rumored to be the new "Inside Receivers" coach at that time. He even went out on the recruiting trail.



2- Even if it was predictable, that doesn't mean that it was a good thing. Who knows though really?
