Bronco's BYU Bus

Remind me of his famous quote/metaphor... You want the wrong people off of the bus, the right people on the bus, and people in the right seat?

I just wonder how simple that really is. Was Anae the wrong person when he left? Was Reynolds the wrong person who stayed on the bus when the right person actually got off? Is Doman wrong, or right? Is Doman's seat QB Coach, or is Max Hall's? Is Anae made to sit in the OL seat, but the right OC missed the bus or was never issued a ticket? How do you avoid letting the wrong guys (Hill, Higgins, Weber) onto the bus, and how do you keep guys like Grimes in their seats? Was Dupaix both the right guy and the right seat, but someone else is now taking his seat because the wrong guy has been delegated control of that aisle? Was Doman helping Reynolds try to force Anae out of his seat prematurely 2 years ago? Will we or can we ever know the answer to many of these questions?

Just nonsensical rambling inspired by the "Running into the Wind" thread I guess.

Quite frankly, I like this thread. I think these questions are the right questions.

It seems like there are so many mixed loyalties, deals with coaches from old regimes, etc, at least during the 2010 debacle, that were contributing to the mess.

This bus metaphor is not a Bronco original. He has apparently been reading business management books by the gurus popular in those circles.

Maybe Anae can write a sequel to the Right People in the right seats on the right bus management book.

Maybe his twist could be

How to do it with all highly upstanding HC compatible people on a tiny budget.

He will have the same usual BYU constraints unless Mutt Romney wants to coach the tight ends.

Correcto. Back in 2001, a graduate professor at Stanford, James C. Collins, published a book about American corporations that go from "Good to Great." He talks about one of the most important principles for each management team: "Who they let on the bus."

It's a good book. A correct principle. I need to read it again. Lots of pearls to be gleaned.

wouldn't mind seeing some equal rights among offense and defense for the front seats. Also tired of all the "refused to remove oneself from seat" stories we have coming out of rumorland.
