DdawgAl Gore, co-founder of "Current TV", has sold it to - (no way) Al-Jazeera for $500 million (yes way). Al Gore's cut is a cool $100 million (he owns 20%).
A very interesting side note - last year Glenn Beck inquired about buying Current TV. They knew they had low viewership (about 22,000 during prime time), were financially in trouble, and looking to sell.
Well - the Wall Street Journal reports: "The Wall Street Journal caught the detail in its coverage: "Glenn Beck's The Blaze approached Current about buying the channel last year, but was told that 'the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us and we are sensitive to networks not aligned with our point of view,' according to a person familiar with the negotiations."
Now this is very revealing about how the left thinks. They are so repulsed by Glenn Beck and his Conservative point of view, they would not sell to him. Yet, they will sell to the Arab news network Al-Jazeera? :bug:
Oh yeah, here's the real kicker - Al Gore, "Mr. Lefty Liberal" - tried real hard to get the $500 million deal done before Dec. 31st - to avoid the new, higher Obama taxes. (Ha ha ha!). But, it could not be done, and the final paperwork was signed Jan. 2, 2013.
