What Does TCU and Michigan State Have That

BYU did not have?



Field Goal kickers. TCU thought they had won it on a kick well over 50 yards - then MSU won it with a similar kick.



Both teams had rock solid defenses that dominated at times. Both teams had QB depth issues. Both teams had conservative coaches that punted a lot and relied on their defenses to shorten the field.





Slugfest.



TCU had a losing record in Big 12 play and lost to an unranked opponent in their bowl game. Sweet.



Now the bad news - 70% of the TCU starters were freshmen or sophomores.



Tayo Fabaluge (Spelling - who was a former BYU player who transferred and is part of the lost recruiting class was converted to OL by TCU. He made the critical holding penalty on the final TCU drive that took them out of any hope for field goal range.

TCU not only lost to an unranked opponent, but a 6-6 opponent who barely made a bowl game. If only we had great coaches like Fatterson... :roll:

They lost to two 6-6 teams and two 7-5 teams, that's a lot of bad losses.

Anybody who doesn't think Fatterson is not a better coach than bronco isn't thinking straight. is bronco a better coach for byu than fatterson, absolutely.

If TCU had better FG kickers, they could have one or two more BCS bowl victories.



Bad FG kicking cost them in 2008 against Utah. They would have been 11-1 that year and likely been the first non-AQ team w/ a loss to make the BCS.
