If BYU is going to do something and not screw up recruiting by doing it - yesterday would have been the time. Make that the day before yesterday.



Oops - Bronco always goes on vacation for a week or two first - coaching changes are 5th priority.



This coaching staff has had instability since 2010. Defensive staff has been pretty stable since mid 2010. It shows.



Offensive staff has not been. It shows. Reynolds is leaving. I would not be surprised to see a change at OL. He has been given enough time. More instability. And if history holds, we are about to introduce a whole lot more inexperience. Right before the toughest schedule ever.

In 2010 fans wanted -J. hill, - R. Anae, and -P. Higgins and + Cahoon and + Detmer and Doman as OC. IDR if they also wanted -Weber at that point, but they probably mostly did - the cries are just even louder now.



Anyway - they were stuck with Weber and did not get Detmer and got Dupaix who was not on the wish list and a defensive grad assistant promotion and Doman promotion and Cahoon.



So they got most of what they wanted then - and so far only want to toss outDonan and still want to toss out Weber.



Who knows what we will get next year.



Maybe a big surprise with Bronco as HC / OC, someone promoted to DC but keeping their position coach spot, Doman as QB Coach and Assistant HC, and Weber replaced by heaven knows whom. And Reynolds replaced also by heaven knows whom.



Anyway - Holmoe assured us "It Will All Be Good."

If we change OC without fixing the Oline, we will not see any improvement in the offense next year. If they fire doman and let the new OC hire his own staff, maybe the Oline coach will get changed too.

Get ready, things should be announced soon on this.



And for people talking Andy Reid, just stop already. Not happening. NFL TEAMS are lining up already, paying 6-7 times more than BYU can.

There will not be any coaches coming to BYU for the money. Inexperienced coaches will come for the experience. Unemployed coaches will come just to have a job. And sometimes, very special people will sacrifice greatly because they want to be here.

WTHeck! Are you guys just guessing? I would love this!! The only way this gets juicier is if Chad Lewis became TE coach (probably has been partly by default, but also respects Rynolds too much to interfere) and if Grimes or Grimes-like comes in at Oline.

Although, if BD becomes QB coach, it will be more like Jr QB coach. Detmer isn't going to settle for running man, dink and dunk or tuck, duck and run routines.

It seems like a waste to have both BD and TD on staff. Would TD have a position group responsibility? If not, how do you compensate for Reynold's departure? Not saying don't do it, I'll just curious what the complete offensive staff would look like.

I love Ty Detmer. He threw a lot of picks, though. Usually vs good defenses. Do not expect magic. And if he comes and struggles - be patient and civil. He has Legacy right up there with Steve Young and Jim McMahon.



Detmer has the NFL single game interception record at 7. Yes 7 in a single game.



He hopefully has untangled him from the investment firm scandal he was associated with. I do not believe Detmer was even slightly knowledgeable about the fraud - but got dragged through the proverbial mud a bit. These things can be huge distractions - see Arkansas this year - if court proceedings are on-going.



Anyway he is human. A great guy. He has four daughters. I think at least one of them is already enrolled at BYU.



If he comes to BYU - hopefully it is with eyes wide open - he is a legacy asset to BYU and The LDS Church. It sure would be nice if things stay that way.



He would definitely have a learning curve to coach at the college level.
